I have tickets to Sound of Music later this month.

Then go backstage after and take Ben a box of donuts for me.  He's a really nice guy.

When are you seeing it?  I'll tell him you are coming.

In addition to those mentioned in the notes, I also liked George Duning's score for Count Three and Pray - the Van Heflin, Joanne Woodward, Allison Hayes movie.

Yesterday, I was looking for an email and ran across the original August 2014 cover design for the ROBERTA recording.  I had approved it and it was set to go when the Man from Philadelphia insisted that the color be changed.  It was a complete surprise to me, and I still resent his interference without discussing it with me.

I think I still prefer the pinker version 1.  Any thoughts, DRs?

I remember that controversy, and agree with you.

But is this a brain fart, or had other colors either been used in the past, or considered for this release?  Was there a green one?  I could easily be conflating this with any number of things.

In other DR Elmore-related news, in my sorting this morning I unearthed an article I'd forgotten I had because it had never been put in the right place.  It's a complete tear-out of a July 3, 1989 New Yorker piece by Ethan Mordden called "SHOW BOAT" CROSSES OVER.  I have no memory of having read it (!), so that situation is about to be rectified.

DR Elmore, you probably have everything in existence on that, but if you can use a copy of this, you're totally welcome to my original (sorry I didn't keep the issue cover), or to the scan of it I'll make later today.

There were a lot of different colors used in the sheet music covers. Here are a yellow and green "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes."

I have a copy.  It's got several Ethan Mordded errors, which is typical for his "I know it all" attitude; if he'd asked me about the recording at the time, I could have corrected him.

Thanks for asking, though.

So typical, whenever someone fails to ask the people out there who could make a difference!

I had but one cup of coffee this morning before deciding to get an early start on things, and now I'm feeling like I could use another cup......but with something to eat, for which I'll have to leave the house.  But I need to do a couple of other things anyway.

That wasn't quite worth a post, but it became one in spite of it.

As did this.

Does anyone know anything about the legalities of "intellectual property"?  I've called my attorney, but I think she's taking the holidays off.

If something is happening with the Washington State Library (a specific library where I am not employed), then that will not affect the Timberland Regional Library, where I am employed.

Is your library part of a larger system or just a local library.  Ashland is part of the county.

Does anyone know anything about the legalities of "intellectual property"?  I've called my attorney, but I think she's taking the holidays off.

All I know is how I used to explain "fair use" to the pre-service teachers I taught at Miami University, but that was 20 years ago.  The key words were "spontaneity" and "brevity."  If someone told me I had to become a lawyer, I'd specialize in intellectual property.

I work at the Timberland Regional Library Administrative Service Center, which is the headquarters of a five-county, 27-branch library district.  It's its own special taxing district, so it's not dependent on the state or any other library districts.  We get our funding mostly from timber revenue and property taxes.  We're on pretty solid ground, financially. :)
