I remember laughing hysterically when I first heard Laurie Anderson's "Walk the Dog" back in 1981. Her voice, her music and her storytelling have hypnotized me ever since. I can understand that she's not for everyone, but if you enjoy her work, check out Heart of a Dog, a movie/meditation on life and death and what happens in between. She has an odd, highly personal take on 9/11 as well as some humorous takes on her dog learning to play the piano and taking up painting, all of which somehow morph into a loose tribute to her late husband, Lou Reed.
