I never needed any last year. I had them the year before in Ashland but they were slippery so I just wore my regular, ankle, waterproof hiking boots. I have some old Mephesto regular shoes, also waterproof, I wear when we go out and I don't want to wear tennis shoes.
I stopped trekking through the fields and if the road was bad I put plastic bags on my feet before putting the shoes on and then pants over them to keep the snow out. My traction and balance were better.
