I've done five pages. The day has simply gotten away from me, and I had to decide where to break the chapter, then I had to figure out how exactly to write the sequence I was in, which took a while and which I have no doubt I will futz and finesse quite a bit, but it was just important to get it down. So, I'll take a short break and then try to write at least three more pages, which should get me near the end of the chapter.

Since 7th grade when the Palms Jr. High librarian gave me THE PRESIDENT'S LADY by Irving Stone to read I have loved historical fiction.

Seven pages and now I'll take at least an hour break before doing four to six more pages. What I'll try to do is finish the chapter and begin the final chapter, pre-shower, then write a page or two after that. For now, I think I'll relax to an SACD of Ravel, conducted by Pierre Boulez.

Still auditioning books. But the one that seems to be the favorite is "Mother Finds a Body," a mystery by Gypsy Rose Lee. And yes, Mother is Rose. Gypsy is the sleuth. It's short, it's light, it's funny.

A few cool days, tomorrow is supposed to get near 80 with some sun out there.

BK posted about how weird the LA weather was. I'm finding this whole winter odd. The biggest difference is not that the temperatures are warmer that usual, it's that the days are already much longer. I haven't felt the light deprivation as much this winter as I have before. It used to be dark when I left work. Today, I noticed that it was still light until about 6 p.m.
