Nowhere in that obit was that he worked for Hefner on the cable show Playboy on the Air - reviewed movies for the show - I was on the show, too, as the sex news reporter, and we got along famously. I used to seem him at the opening nights at the Ahmanson and we always said hello.

None of the online obits I've read tells Robert Osborne's story in the same way. Each has great anecdotes about the man.

In the absolutely amazing department: When Twilight Time did Experiment in Terror I was beyond thrilled as I love the movie. So, I had Mik Matessino make me a copy of what they used for the isolated score, which was a mono up and down music track that had the terrible movie edits mixed in with source cues that faded in and out - I couldn't even listen to it. But today, a friend gave me the complete score in stereo - I have no idea how someone had this but it just goes to show you that you never say never about scores. Unfortunately I can't release it - not only complicated by the RCA re-recording, which we could work out, but that the film is Sony and the music guy there is a complete jerk - I had so many e-mail volleys, offered to pay the exorbitant license fee on certain titles, and they simply would never make a deal, which they had with a few other labels. I finally just told the guy off.

Alec Baldwin once interviewed Robert Osborne on a TCM special and many of the things mentioned in his obit were talked about there.....his connection to Diane Baker is very interesting, they had remained friends since he did a screen test with her at Fox....the test that got him a spot in Lucille Ball's Desilu Playhouse cast....

I also like the story he told about Lucy saying to him......"You're a writer, why are you doing this? You don't want to do this the rest of your life - go do something interesting!"

Some people overvalue what they have - i.e. Susan Nicholson Hofheintz who thinks she going to get a couple of million dollars for the AIP films she has the rights to [including "I Was a Teenage Frankenstein" and "The Amazing Colossal Man"] - and others are just asses who don't have any other way to feel important.....

No I don't receive notifications when books on my TBR list are released. I do get an email though every month showing new releases for the next month (including books on my TBR list). I am pretty obsessive about goodreads though. So I'm usually very up to date when authors I like release books.

I came across this recipe. I think it's a Baptist plot.

Asparagus Salad

Heat 1 can of asparagus soup. Add 1 package lime gelatin and stir to dissolve.
Mix in 8 ounces cream cheese, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1 cup chopped celery, 1/2 cup cold water, 1/2 cup chopped pecans, 1/2 cup green pepper, 1 tablespoon onion. Congeal.

This treat comes from Glenda Dunaway and is from the 1978 collection, "Favorite Recipes: First Baptist Church, Granbury, Texas"
