DITHERING AND DALLYING ON A SUNDAY

Well, you've read the notes, the notes dithered and dallied, and now it is time for you to post until the dithering and dallying cows come home.

I much prefer HUSH, HUSH, SWEET CHARLOTTE over BABY JANE, but that is probably because Miss Crawford is not in the film.

Is there a stage musical version of HUSH, HUSH?  If not, there should be one.

A double feature with the musical version of Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? would be cool!

Here is the official press release for my new book, HOLLYWOOD SNAPSHOTS: The Forgotten Interviews.

Albany, Ga. – BearManor Media announces the release of Hollywood Snapshots The Forgotten Interviews by Michael B. Druxman.

Back in the 1970s and early 1980s, Michael B. Druxman authored several books and stage plays about Hollywood, the movies, and the people that made them. He also wrote a monthly column for Coronet magazine, “Yesterday at the Movies.”

In researching these works, Druxman interviewed dozens of performers, producers, directors, screenwriters, composers, and other film folk, who were a part of Hollywood’s “Golden Era.”

Rediscover the author’s columns for Coronet as they originally appeared in the magazine, along with excerpts from Druxman’s recently rediscovered interview notes for his books, columns, and stage plays, including many eye-opening comments that never made print. These notes are made public here for the first time.

Subjects of the magazine interviews include Claire Trevor, Jack Oakie, Paul Henreid, Ann Miller, John Carradine, Howard Keel, Mary Pickford, Gale Sondergaard, David Janssen, Yvonne DeCarlo, and several members of The Little Rascals/Our Gang films.

Among the book interview subjects are directors Edward Dmytryk, Herb Ross, George Sidney, George Sherman, Gordon Douglas, Raoul Walsh, Howard Hawks, Mervyn LeRoy, Arthur Hiller; composers Jule Styne, Paul Francis Webster, John Green; actors George Burns, Betty Garrett, Dan O’Herlihy, Charles “Buddy” Rogers, and many others.

The forgotten interviews are no longer forgotten.

Our warm day turned into a warm night.  Woke up in the middle of it and had to turn my bedroom fan on me, which finally made things better.

Today should be really nice, topping off at about 70.

One irritating and repeating dream involved a song, or a section of a song, in G minor from Jesus Christ Superstar which, in the dream, was also an important section of West Side Story.

This begins an active three weeks.  Some various and sundry things must get done today, we have DR Matthew's visit tomorrow, I have Fish Show rehearsals on Wednesday and Thursday, and I play Friday night's and Sunday's performances of Superstar

Next week is Hell Week for the Fish Show, and the week of performances after that will be Hellish.  I expect most of this Hell to be served fresh and steaming, and I'm quite sure that somewhere in all of that is a Rosemary's Baby that must be prayed for.

Lots of dreams last night!  I remember these:
1.  Something about a family gathering at Randy's and Jo's, only my cousins were all still children and my dead father and Aunt Jean, who died from a stroke around 1976, were in it.
2.  Another Drama Book Shop dream.

I'm still undecided about today's plans.  I do need a trip to the post office, but I have several phone inquiries about two accounts before I go.

DR Jane:  Buon Viaggio a Italia!

Recommendations:  In Rome, seek out "La Bocca de la Veritas" (the Mouth of Truth).  It was featured in "Roman Holiday".  Gregory Peck stuck his hand into the mouth and then pretended his hand was being devoured to Audrey Hepburn's horror.  On the Amalfi Coast, avail yourself, if you've time, of a day trip to either Herculaneum or Pompeii.  The latter is the most extensive and famous, but Herculaneum is, for me, better-preserved.

I had a long and langorous weekend following the plumbing work done on Friday.  Everything is up-to-snuff and working beautifully.  It's always a relief when everything works beautifully.

I spent my Sunday watching epic movies.

One more thing:  My condo's elevator is still out of service.  Today will be one week.   In theory, a new "board" is being constructed to put the elevator back into service.  The elevator is ancient (30-plus years) and parts are hard to come by.  A long-delayed upgrade won't happen until September.
