Don't get me wrong.  I'm all for ending this drought here and now.  It can rain more and through May if it wants to.

Friday was such a gorgeous day, however, that the past couple of days have been a bit too low-keyed dreary.

I crave a bit more sunshine.

For what it's worth, California has had its second wettest winter on record.

DR Vixmom, what exactly is peeling a mushroom?  I sometimes cut off the stem. And I chop/dice/cut them. But I have never heard of peeling a mushroom.

I spoke with my Cousin Debra this past Thursday evening.

Please don't alert the media.  This revelation is only for your eyes.

Debra is an RN in charge of a medical group in South Carolina.  We were talking "family health issues" and she told me about something that has done wonders for her husband who has heart issues and diabetes 2.

She said that some recent lab results were so startlingly "normal" that she and his doctors thought a mix-up had happened.  So they did the labs again and the results were the same.  His triglycerides were well within normal parameters, his A1C was low and normal and his blood sugars were normal.

To what did she attribute this?

He had begun craving dill pickles and pickle juice.  That had turned the tide for him, except for the hypertension all the salt induced.  How did he handle that?

He began taking a tbsp. of Bragg's Vinegar every day.  The results have remained steady.  She said this vinegar (Bragg's because it's unfiltered, I reckon) is the new wonder tonic for diabetics.

Since it's not going to hurt me any, I'm going to start doing this today.

Very interesting, Ron.  Will you/does your cousin's husband just take it straight, or put/mix it in something that can hide the taste of pure vinegar?

TOD;
Steaming veggies is the healthiest option and very easy. You need a steamer, which can probably be purchased for less than $15. Boil roughly an inch of water in a pan, place the steamer in the pot and add the veggies to the steamer. Cover the pot with a lid. Let cook for about ten minutes on low.

Apple cider vinegar is probably the oldest health tonic around. Many people swear by it for all sorts of things. Even though it's an acid it alkalinizes you, just as lemon juice does. It's usually taken in water. Taking it straight can be uncomfortable, especially if you tend to be too acid or if you have a tender gut.

Ron, let us know how it works for you. Good luck!

I had a little free time today so I organized my tax files. I've been wanting to do this for ages. It wasn't as disorganized as it looked and didn't take too long to do. Every year there's at least one receipt or one document that evades me and I must ferret through many files to find the damn thing. Last week's missing receipt turned up today. I knew it would surface--and knew, too, that I could find other evidence to support it if needed. So much better to have order! I'm pleased it's done.

Just straight out of the bottle into a tablespoon.

Keep whatever you are carrying close to you.  Hold it tightly to your body.  Naples is a bad place for people snatching things and running.

Well, his body was telling him it wanted something and pickles was what he was led toward.

Debra feels the pickles normalized his blood sugar, then the apple cider vinegar normalized the hypertension? Or she feels the apple cider vinegar helped it all?

She felt the pickles helped with everything BUT hypertension.   The salt in the pickle brine was the culprit.   Vinegar does not affect hypertension, but had the properties of bringing down his A1C and his blood sugar.
