Back in Rachmaninov land and what a land it is.  Listening to various recordings of symphony number two, my favorite symphony of all time.  And I rank his third right up there, too.

Why are there people having a loud conversation outside my house?

:o

I thought for sure that it was BK who posted this. :)

This is funny and completely understandable :)

Thanks for the book suggestion as a gift idea, Vixmom. My friend was very excited. She had just started reading again two weeks after her surgery.

What book did you give her?

After my shoulder surgery I asked for donations of feel good, or easy read books that were lightweight so I could hold them.  I received months worth of reading.

It was a nice visit. Jan had had quadruple bypass that was long overdue. Her husband was really shaken by the whole thing and has been by her side ever since. He said Joy and I were the first non medical personnel to go through their door in two weeks.

Obviously Jan is much loved.

Good choice DR JANE!   A remake of The More the Merrier with Jean Arthur, Joel McCrea, and Charles Coburn....also hilarious.

A horrid remake was BACHELOR MOTHER.  Watch the original one with Ginger Rogers and David Niven.

Fannie Flagg's All Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion. Her husband was an Air Force officer. I thought she'd like a story about the first women pilots.

I love Cary Grant in comedies like The Awful Truth, The Philadelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, His Favorite Wife.

The show tonight was called On the Porch with the Levans. It was like a musical autobiography of a San Antonio family. I didn't know them, but I enjoyed the way they told stories, in song and in speaking. They did a few old pieces, but most were works they had written. The son and daughter have both started solo careers, and the best song was from the daughter about her grandmother passing along a pair of prize Lucchese boots.

At the end, half of the audience seemed to join them on stage with squeezebox, violin/fiddle, you name it, for a raucous version of Folsom Prison Blues.

I am glad. I always think a good book can make the world around fish spear for a while and he
P with healing be it physical or spiritual.  And reading a book that you San discuss with someone who also I've it...priceless
