Well, you've read the notes, you are ready to celebrate at our Christmas Do, and now it is time to post until the cows come drumming home (in the nude, of course).

Since it's just after midnight, I can say with all honesty that I have no CDs in my CD player at work and no DVD in any of my DVD players.  I watched the Julie Andrews "Cinderella" last night (Thursday) and I liked it very much.  Very innocent and delightful. :)

And with that, I must say good night.  A friend of mine needs a couple of gifts for her oldest daughter (a musical-theater-afficianato-in-training) and I'm making some CD compilations for her.  I think she'll like them.  She'd better, it's what she's getting!  So, off I must go and finish the CDs, because I have to deliver them later this morning!  Good night!  And Merry Christmas Eve!

Der Brucer watched Footloose for the very first time tonight.  I think he liked it.  (And Kevin Bacon was a real cutie when the film was made.)

After watching Footloose, he turned on one of his favorite Nattering News Networks.  As usual, they weren't showing any news reporting on the NNN.  They were instead broadcasting a talking head debate, where a man on one side of a split screen was arguing with a woman on the other side of the split screen.  They were arguing about whether Church-based organizations have too much influence in America.

Maybe more people should watch Footloose.

Can talking heads dance?

Also, we splurged on ourselves today.  Der B decided to get a three-CD compilation of folk/rock/pop from the 1970s, to be played in the car.  So far, it sounds fairly good.  It includes music by Elton John (from before he was gay) and Linda Ronstadt (from before she was fat) and Jim Croce (from before he wasn't), among a number of other folk.  And rock.  And pop.

DRJOSE - house seats would be so groovy.  Because it is a subscription series, usually the best I can do when they go on sale are singles in the orchestra!  And of course I am assuming we could use MasterCard at the Will Call!  Heheheheh.  Wonderful.  Have never even considered seeing MAMMA MIA, but I do like Abba - so what they hey?

Yes, MR BK will be working working working today for his annual Christmas Eve do-waa.  Best wishes for a successful and fun event!

It is one degree here - with a -8 degree F wind chill factor, and DRJOEY's Hancock County is still under the Snow Emergency!

DVD - Love Actually - like the music, like the actors, a sweet story.  This has just replaced WHAT IF? or as it is known in these parts The Ryan Raftery Show.

CD - A Broadway Christmas.  A lovely compilation Cd produced by MR BK which finally arrived at my door from Amazon.

VCR - Joan Crawford in AUTUMN LEAVES, which I am writing about for a popular magazine and which will hopefully be seen in print.

DR GINNY - you had some lovely angels there, but was there ever a more handsome angel than Cary Grant in THE BISHOP'S WIFE?

DR CP - I bought THEATRE OF DEATH - and it was cheaper to buy it on a double feature with CIRCUS OF HORRORS featuring the lovely song "Look for a Star."

I also ordered OPEN WATER.....which looks pretty scary!

Another favorite New Yorker cartoon:

The Cratchit house on Christmas Day - a big feast on the table.  Scrooge is dancing with Tiny Tim on his shoulder.  Mrs. Crachit is saying to Bob:

"Well I suppose we have to ask the old fool to stay for dinner.:

Good morning, all!  I'm typing this as Faith Esham and the New York City Gay Men's Chorus sing "The Twelve Days of Christmas."  Right now I could use 12 noisy drummers to wake me up.

This has been a strange week, what with the non-departing ear infection and an arriving cold.  I think the San Francisco foundation office, which pays me for the recording project, has closed down till Jan 3, so I may be penniless until then due to an oversight in our overseer, and I think the heavy snow in Ohio yesterday has the carton with my family's Christmas gifts held up in Memphis, TN!  When Planets Collide!  Indeed!   It's an astrological nightmare.

As for today's topic:  outside of the Christmas compilation playing, I have no ideas.  This is a B&N day, and it should be quite busy.  When I get home, I'll veg out.  Tomorrow, before I become a social animal, I'll drag out a few holiday CDs and play them.  Here are my faves:

Choral:  The Robert Shaw Chorale
Classical:  Elizabeth Schwartzkopf, Ceremony of Carols
Pop:  Julie Andrews w/Andre Previn, Bing Crosby w/the Andrews Sisters, Frank Sinatra, Joan Baez, Broadway Christmas

DVD:  I just got something from Netflix, and there's the Bollywood movie that came from DRMBarnum

Merry Christmas Eve, everybody!

Jrand: Autumn Leaves!  That brings the memories flooding back.  Haven't seen that one in awhile...maybe I should dig it out and we can have ourselves an old fashioned Joan Crawford marathon for Christmas Eve.  I know, I know...how cliched and traditional can you get?  Dontcha just love how evil Lorne Greene and Vera Miles are in it?

And no...there is no handsomer angel than Cary Grant!

Strange to find that spaghetti is a traditional Christmas Eve thingy-do for BK; we decided last night to have spaghetti for our CE dinner, and I rather fancied such a meal was quite Out There and Rule-Breaking.  Ah, well.

In our fridge right now is stollen, apple pie, and a Yule Log (which I made yesterday for the first time ever).  Think that's enough for the two of us?  Egad! as Veronica Lodge's father is so fond of saying.

What nifty foodstuffs does everyone else have stockpiled for the coming bacchanalia?

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE TO ONE AND ALL! (escept tomovoz - for him I'll just say HAPPY CHRISTMAS DAY!)

CD PLAYER still contains the laundry list of Christmas cds, while the car CD PLAYER has Ella's BROADWAY cd.

Finally got around to putting the films from WARNER'S FILM NOIR CLASSIC COLLECTION into the DVD PLAYER, where THE ASPHALT JUNGLE is waiting to be watched.

From NETFLIX, I have THE CHEAP DETECTIVE and "A Morbid Taste for Bones" from the Cadfael series.

I worked until 8pm last night, and will probably be doing the same again today. . .hey! those shoppers have got to eat, too!

Good morning. And Good Holiday Spirit to all.

I wish I could attend the Do; however, I will be shivering on the church property, keeping an eye on luminarias.

The other day, my son (who likes to listen to that horrid shouting rock music) brought home a CD by an artist he had just discovered -- Tony Bennett.  So we are all happy about that. In the car CD player is "Christmas in Plaid." In the son's DVD player is a documentary about serial killers. Isn't that festive?

We finally have Christmas weather. It went down into the 20s last night, and it's currently 47. When I went outside to get the newspaper, it honestly seemed like Christmas was almost here (finally).
