One of the first shows that came to my mind was a British show called Murder Most Horrid.  Dawn French (of French & Saunders fame) is the lead, and in each segment, someone (usually whatever character that Dawn French plays) gets killed...hilariously. :D

TOD:

Alfred Hitchcock - half hour & hour versions. My favorites were The Unlocked Window and Where the Woodbine Twineth

The Twilight Zone - half hour version.  Many favorites!

Desilu Playhouse  - hmmm, I shall have to look at an episode list to find one...a favorite, that is.

I wanted to like the Richard Boone Show, but I didn't like many of the other actors he had in his repertory company.

TOD

Twilight Zone
For me the best episodes were in no particular order were

The Eye Of the Beholder
The Hitchhiker
The Invaders (Agnes Morehead gives a standout performance)
The Monster Are Due On Maple Street
Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
Time Enough At Last (Great Twist Ending)
To Serve Man
The After Hours
Five Characters in Search of an Exit
Where Is Everybody?
Third From the Sun
The Masks

An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge which was actually an Oscar winning short that was bought for the series and slightly edited for time. It plot structure has been reused many times over the years like Jacob's Ladder. So if one knew this film the latter had no surprises.

There was also Night Gallery, but from I understand Rod Serling had no artistic control over the series and only a few episodes were worthy. The multiple stories were also varying lengths as episodes were either 90 minutes, 60 minutes, 30 minutes

Eyes (Joan Crawford and one of Steven Spielberg's first directing jobs)
Lone Survivor
They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar (Probably the best episode of the series)
The Messiah on Mott Street (2nd Best)
Big Surprise
Green Fingers (Scary ending)
The Caterpillar (Shock ending)

Wow, that would be great if a mini-get-together (or even a regular get-together) were to happen!

Loved Twilight Zone, Hitchcock, Night Gallery and those, but Wodehouse Playhouse was my absolute favorite. John Alderton and Pauline Collins can make me laugh over and over again.

Re: my mom's friend's daughter who was taking her 12 and 15 year old kids to Kinky Boots and The Book of Mormon.

Well she switched out Wicked for Kinky Boots.  She thinks that the only issue with The Book of Mormon is swearing. At least her son is 15 and not 14 as I thought. :)
Hopefully it won't traumatize the 12 year old daughter. Or my mom's friend (the kids' grandmother) who is also going. :)
