SNAP, CRACKLE, AND POP
« on: August 21, 2017, 12:21:06 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both snap and crackle as well as a soupçon of pop, and now it is time for you to post until the snap, crackle, and popping cows come home.

Ditto!  I also really liked Fruity Pebbles and Honey-Comb Cereal, but my most favorite was Lucky Charms.

Well, I want to go to bed early so that I can experience the eclipse in the morning!  Good night, Tom.

Have a good day, all!

TOD:  Sugar Pops and Sugar Smacks.  If in a health-conscious mood, Frosted Flakes.  :)

For all those who have pets and who live where the eclipse will happen keep them indoors as they can damage their eyesight just as humans can do if they look at it.

TOD

The sugary ones, for sure, the big favorites being Frosted Flakes and Sugar Smacks.  Trix, too, later on.  Corn pops were sugared, too, right?  I never went for the real candy-ish cereals (no chocolate anything, please, in my breakfast), and many of today's cereals sound disgusting.  I always loved Raisin Bran, and would sugar that up myself.

Chex and Rice Krispies were okay, but on a second tier for me.

I ate the non-sugary cereals just fine by adding sugar, but was never too crazy about shredded wheat (which seemed to require "work") or grape nuts which I found to be a chore to eat.

I don't eat cereal now, but I know some people, like my dad, never gave it up and can hardly start a day without a bowl of cereal.  These tend to be the people who rarely go for a hot eggs & meat breakfast, I think.  I could easily, btw, pick up a box or two of the above favorites and binge like crazy and love every minute of it.  No question about it.  But to the extent I'm able to exercise any self-control in foods at all, it seems to cover that pretty well.

I have noticed that some cereals have subtlety changed their names over the years. Sugar Frosted Flakes has become Frosted Flakes, Sugar Smacks has become Honey Smacks, Sugar Crisp is now Golden Crisp, Sugar Chex is now the long titled Honey Nut Naturally Flavored Chex, Sugar Pops evolved into Corn Pops and finally Sugar Rice Krinkles is now Frosted Rice Krinkles.

Since it's a quiet morning, I'll sneak this in for Eclipse Monday:  (adapted from the NY Times' New York Today article on dealing with seeing the eclipse in NYC)

tune of “That’s Amore”

When the moon slips and dips
To a solar eclipse -
That's our Monday!
At a quarter to three
There’ll be something to see –
That's our Monday!

So get set, read it on the net, you will be upset
If the great moment passes
So let’s meet, see you on the street, but I must repeat
You should wear special glasses

When the moon blocks the sun
Such excitement and fun –
That's our Monday!
You should take a long lunch
Tell your boss thanks a bunch when he says:

“You can go, it’s okay
You can go out and play just this one day
Mind the light, it’s all right, but please work late tonight”
That's our Monday!

I made my eclipse-viewing box this morning out of a Cherrie-O's box. Never one of my faves.

I forgot about Cap'n Crunch.  And for the fruit group, there were the Crunchberries.

Monday morning greetings!  Richard made us each a cereal-box eclipse viewer and we will spend the afternoon on our front porch.

I have nothing to report this morning.  I dreamed that Joshie, Rob Berman, and I were working on a Cole Porter recording in a space that looked like a high school library.

I hope that means one of us will win that lottery and fund that Jubilee recording
