I've been re-reading Sir Peter Hall's Diaries with much more appreciation than I had when I first read them. She was his fourth wife; Leslie Caron was his second. In the diaries, he's just directed her in Cosi Fan Tutte at Glyndebourne, and appears infatuated. His Glyndebourne production for her of Carmen is really wonderful.
