DR George, I would NEVER throw a book in the trash! But sometimes one must cull. I try a lot of new authors--novelists--who I don't care for enough to read more of. Those books I can part with. I was so glad to find a local library that accepts donations--many of then do not. Maybe only the ones who do book sales want donations.

My library will take donations on the condition that if they don't add them to the collection, the items don't have to be returned.  Some things we get (and other purchased items that are just discarded from the collection) are made available to be sold at booksales by the various branch Friends of the Library groups), and some other things are sent to a seller who sells them on Amazon for us.

Hi all.  I just thought I'd stop by for quick hello and wishes that everyone here is doing well.

I don't have much news.  At least not good news.  Still job hunting.  It is a lot harder to find one at my age then I would have thought.  I've had several interviews and told I did well but it never translates in an offer.  Sigh.

I have another interview on Tuesday and heard from another company that states they are interested and will contact me on Monday for a possible interview.  All I can do is keep trying.

I guess I have to let you know about David.  It turned out he was a cat fish.  I would not have believed in him had he not called me so many times when I tried to break it off with him when I couldn't find a job right away.  He called over 20 times until I picked up and said for me to never not speak to him again because he loved me.  He knew I didn't have any money, didn't ask for any but it turned out he was not the person he said he was.

Well, no fool like an old fool, right?

On top of all that, my tooth broke last Sunday and I'm having to get a crown.  Like I can afford that right now.

And the good times roll.........

Sorry about David & your tooth.  As for David, you took a chance and that does not make you a fool no matter what age.

Ditto!  And agreed!  You put yourself out there.  That's a brave thing to do!

Is anyone watching (or is going to watch) the first episode of "Star Trek Discovery"?  I was doing laundry and watching an episode of "Modern Family" from the end of last season before I remembered that it was on.  Fortunately, I remembered to set my DVR to record it, so I'll start watching it now.

Lens flares abound in the first scene on the bridge. :P

Wrote another bit of commentary and realized I had to flip two songs in the show order.  Wrote one additional bit and can write no more.  Maybe after another hour I'll try to do two more bits of commentary, which would then only leave three to do tomorrow.

My sister and I didn't go to IKEA.  It turns out that she had something else to do that would take too much time, so we didn't go.

Instead, I went to Taco Bell for dinner.  I had the Fiesta Taco Salad with chicken and no shell.  That saves a bunch of carbs.

Then, I returned some LED tube light bulbs to Costco.  I bought them a couple of days ago, thinking that I could just replace my regular fluorescent tube bulbs in my kitchen for these LEDs, but they didn't work as well as I thought that they should've.

Then, I went to Home Depot and bought some regular fluorescent tube bulbs and put those in the fixture and they worked perfectly, so that's finally done.

Then, I watched "Star Trek Discovery."  I know that the special effects nowadays are so much better than they were during the 1960s when the original series was being filmed, but why does the story line have to be so inconsistent with established Star Trek canon??

STD (HA! HA!  I just realized what the initials look like! :)) ) is set only 10 years before ST:TOS, but so many things are wrong.  Having a woman captain was the specific plot of one of the last episodes:  women couldn't be captains...simply because they were women.

I know that it shouldn't have been that way, but that was the way of the world at the time that the show was filmed.  Also, the Klingons in the new show are completely different than the Klingons that were on the original series.

And Sarek (Spock's father) is on this show.  He's MUCH too young here.

Anyway, I'm not buying a subscription to CBS All Access just to watch this show.  I'll wait for the DVDs to be released (because you know they will), and even then I'll get it from the library.

I can't believe I almost forgot about this...I forgot to check my mail yesterday and when I did today, "Fuller at Fox" was waiting there!  I just put it in my computer and am listening to it right now as I work on balancing my checkbook! :D

Thanks George.  We recorded it tonight.  DR Danise was very disappointed.    I expect we will feel the same way.  I had forgotten women could not be Captains.

I will say that if it were on broadcast TV, I'd watch it...and complain a lot...but I'd watch it.  I do like the special effects, except for the damned lens flares.
