Laura, grasshopper pie was a favorite of mine as a kid. I had it for by birthday for a couple of years instead of cake. I think I was 10 or 11.

Four people, including a 6-year-old boy, were shot outside a San Antonio version of Vixmom’s favorite, Texas Roadhouse. Scary.

Well, it's time to take the laundry out of the washers.  I've cleaned the tub, but it would have been so much easier, if I weren't so damned stupid at times.

DR JohnG --  Regarding Chess:  I didn't mind the book.  I've never seen Chess before so I didn't know about the changes that were made.  I agree that the score is great.

Someone on All That Chat said the book revisions spell out that Raul Esparza's character is "bipolar" - was that what you heard, too?

(if so, it somehow feels like the FOLLIES development over the years that Sally is mentally ill, "Losing her Mind" literally from the show's get-go)

Are they saying  there had been warning signs?

Feels scary to go anywhere sometimes.

Without giving details, the police think they were targeted. Two are in critical condition. The boy was shot in the leg and seems to be otherwise OK.

The ceiling in the laundry room has collapsed and I suspect it's part of yesterday's disaster.  I saw Val, who says he doesn't think this is part of my mess, and he told me that the bathroom ceiling in Apt. 2C collapsed last night.  I feel like Typhoid Mary.

The Texas Roadhouse, I just learned, is in close proximity to three other restaurants I frequent.

Do not feel bad. We all make mistakes. But should we call you Mary Elmore from now on?

TOD:
I loved the question in one of Bruce's Kritzerland books, "Who couldn't love a girl whose favorite food is hot fudge sundaes?" That was always MY favorite food. And the place to go for those was the Ice Creamery in San Francisco where the sundaes were huge.
My mom made a lemon bunt cake with chocolate chips that was very good.
And at Thanksgiving, one of our family friends always made a chocolate black bottom pie that was out of this world. I've tried for years to find the recipe and I found something that was close and I made it a couple times. It was very good, but never seemed exactly right.

How can they afford that? Is the trip back also the same price?

Had a strange dream that I decided to write a quick sequel to The Brain from Planet X to do in September and that I was very irritated that no one here remembered that Aussie candy bar I was obsessed with - chocolate, cherries, and coconut.  Prove me wrong.

Monday afternoon greetings!  After 3 days of laying around like a sick person, I'm trying to rejoin the human race today.  Thanks for the vibes - I think they're helping...

My DH won't eat pie, and my daughter won't try it because it contains creme de menthe, so I have never made it here. It was probably a 1970's popular food item. Does anyone else remember it?

Yes, my mom used to make it when I was little. It was my favorite dessert but I have not had it in many years. :(

I have to get my mental energy up for this laundry day.  I'm sure it's the weight of the damp towels that concerns my walking down four flights with them under one arm.  Sooner begun, sooner finished, I guess.

I would totally throw them/drop them to the bottom of the stairs.  Or get someone to help you.

Many thanks!  I'm hoping our DR Laura decides to adopt soon.  Since I cannot adopt another, I want to live vicariously.
