DRMBARNUM that photo was from the 1955 Hollywood Stars magazine article about Allison titled you ought to be in pictures. I think I sent you copies of it.....she is also pictured with her poodle and running up and down the stairs carrying several pairs of shoes.

I forgot about *61 and many have already mentioned Slap Shot, but I'll add it to my list. Ditto Champion and The Harder They Fall.
Then there was the Canadian hockey flick, FACE-OFF, the tender love story of a rough tuff hockey player and a hippie-chick type singer, which should be remembered because (1) I worked on it for a day (in a party scene, I think) and (2) it has one of the great taglines:
"A story of two people... two worlds... one love."
SCTV did a takeoff.

I love going to sporting events: football, baseball, hockey. I love the Olympics.

I find I can really get into most sports if I have a team to cheer for. That makes a big difference for me.

About 10 years ago I was a huge baseball fan. Listened and watched every game for my team. Now I'm not so much. Although I am enjoying the NFL playoff games this year (although that's football and i was talking baseball).

That seems to be a popular day for birthdays. my Dad and my sister-in-law and my good friend, her husband and her father were all born on 1/25 !

I seem to have seen quite a few ice skating scenes on TCM lately: Joseph Cotton and Jennifer Jones in Portrait of Jeannie, Joseph Cotton (again) and Loretta Young in The Farmer's Daughter, Bette Davis and Richard Travis in The Man Who Came To Dinner, Loretta Young (again) and Cary Grant in The Bishop's Wife.

I've read the Notes, but I have yet to read the Posts, so... Forgive me if there's some redundancy in my current post...

DR Pogue - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have a wonderful day! And tomorrow! And the day after that! And so on and so on...!!! *And be sure to that BK doesn't have too much whipped cream tonight!

Sports movies - "Bend It Like Beckham", "Chariots of Fire", "Rudy" (always good for a happy cry), "A League Of Our Own", "Field of Dreams" (another good cry), "Ice Castles"...

Sports - Baseball - I was born in Boston, so I'm a Red Sox fan by birth. -Even if I'm admittedly a fair-weather fan at best. I also like soccer - I played when I was younger.

And I think that covers everything for now...

I did manage to get up early today - well, early for me - and I proceeded to head out and run some errands. Now, I must putter around the kitchen for a few hours.. I'll be back...

-Oh, and each time that I've come back home over the past couple of weeks, my roommate just seems to give me another reason - or two... or three - to move out of here... Good grief! -Although, at this point, I can say that I'm truly over it - almost. So... No need to stress at this point. Yes, a little bit of "upset" initially, but... What can you do?

Jose I don’t care for Einstein’s bagels-too chewy for my taste.. We had them in Michigan. I think Bryan referred to them as Goya bagels (maybe that was a different store in Ann Arbor).

(Actually it's nice to meet someone so thoroughly of the same mindset as me. On ~~coronation~~ Election Day DH had to physically remove me from the room where the TV is as I was shouting unkind things about the intelligence levels of the American people as a whole and threatening to move to Canada...except its so $%*^ cold!!!)
