Okay - I'll wait. But three days? That seems cruel and unusual.

Funny, I never thought of it that way.  My mother made this three day cheesecake as long as I can remember.  It was a shock to me other cheesecakes didn't need to sit so long.  It is great to make ahead of time for company.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts sent to OzDerek.  His new medications seem to be working and he should be able to return home tomorrow.

I think we need a new song called I Love My Toilet Fish.  BK get to work on it.  This lad's for bed!

My sister told me that a friend of hers had a goldfish but didn't want it anymore.  He tried to flush it down the toilet, but it swam back up!  He decided to keep the fish.  I don't know if it's true or not, but it's a cute story. :)

Jane, did she have a specific recipe that you might be able to post??  I haven't made a cheesecake in quite a while and I'd like to try something different that the Philadelphia cream cheese recipe. ::)

For 3 Stooges fans, I see that SNOW WHITE AND THE 3 STOOGES is being released on DVD in a few months. I know it is not one of their best movies but I have always enjoyed it...it is fun to see Carol Weiss skate and looking at hunky Edson Stroll as the prince is no chore, believe me!

And when is L'IL ABNER being released, does anyone know? I wonder if Leslie Parrish will buy herself a copy?

Is SNOW WHITE the only Three Stooges film being released soon?  I love HAVE ROCKET WILL TRAVEL.

The SNOW WHITE one was the only one mentioned, other then a colorized version of some of their short features and the film SOUP TO NUTS from 1930...little by little their movies are being released so it is only a matter of time.

I am hoping for THE THREE STOOGES MEET HERCULES which is my favorite!

Jrand 54, reminded me of another Cole Porter song that is one of my all-time favs...I Am In Love

I am dejected
I am depressed
But ressurected
And sailing the crest.
What's this elation?
Mixed with deflation?
What explanation?
I am in love.
Such conflicting questions ride
Around in my brain,
Should I order cyanide
Or order champagne?
Oh, what is this sudden jolt?
I feel like a frightened colt
Just hit by a thunderbolt,
I am in love!
I knew the odds
Were against me before,
I had no flair
For flaming desire,
But since the gods
Gave me you to adore,
I may lose
But I refuse to light the fire!
So come and enlighten my days
And never depart.
You only can brighten the blaze
That burns in my heart
for I am wildly in love with you,
And so in need of
A stampede of
Love!

Another Porter song...Love For Sale!

CHEESE CAKE

Bake in a spring form pan 3 1/4 days to 3 1/2 days prior to serving

Crust:

42 crushed honey graham crackers mixed with

1/4 pound or more melted butter

Until crust sticks to the sides of the pan

Filling:

Cream 18 oz cream cheese with dash salt

Mix in 2 eggs until creamy

Gradually,

Add 1 1/4 or more cup sugar

Fold in 1 large carton sour cream mixed with 2 teaspoons vanilla

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes

Topping:

1 large carton sour cream mixed with 2 teaspoons Vanilla

As quickly as possible, starting from the rim of the cake

with the back of a spoon or a spatula gently cover the cake

Bake another 35 minutes

possibly longer, but don’t let the cake get more than golden brown or if it begins to crack.

You can purchase a smaller spring form pan and cut the recipe in half.

Did I ever mention (more than 1oo times) that the Three Stooges came to Tacoma when I was a kid?  It was with Curly Joe, of course, insead of Curly or even Shemp; and Moe and Larry looked shockingly old compared to their 30s shorts, but it was one of the great thrills of my childhood.

TCB one of the Stooges was the uncle of a classmate of mine.  One day, while still in elementary school, this Stooge picked my classmate up from school and all the kids went running over to see him.  I wasn’t interested and I can’t recall which Stooge was his uncle.

Jane, thanks for the recipe!  I have a question:  "1 1/4 cup or more sugar?"  I can understand the "or more" butter for the crust, but is the sugar to taste, for future reference?  And then, just to be sure, are the large cartons of sour cream 16-ounce cartons?

Topic of the Day.  Here are some songs with "love" in the title that I really like (some have been mentioned already):

  • Far From the Home I Love
  • Harbour of Love from Song of Singapore
  • Hot Monkey Love from Eating Raoul:  The Musical
  • How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Love You When You Know I've Been a Liar All My Life
  • I Love a Piano
  • I Love to Cry at Weddings
  • Katie, My Love from Grind
  • I've Never Said I Loved You
  • Love, I Hear
  • Love Is Blind
  • The More You Ruv
  • Our Kind of Love from The Beautiful Game
  • Unworthy Of Your Love
  • When I Fall in Love
  • Who Will Love Me As I Am?

DR MBarnum, that's Carol Heiss who played Snow White in the Three Stooges movies. She was a four time US and five-time world figure skating champion. Her singing voice was dubbed by former Lawrence Welk Champagne Lady Norma Zimmer.

I think Traylor Howard is going to work out just fine as Monk's new assistant. I quite enjoyed the episode. There was a mystery and some laughs which is all I ask of MONK.

I think the transfer of PRIVATES ON PARADE is very good. No, maybe not quite as sharp as some recent transfers (and it's an MGM job which is sometimes a real problem). But MGM did do an anamorphic transfer, and the color is well saturated and looks very good. Mono sound, of course.

I saw this in a revival theater with a fairly dim and damaged print, so it was kind of a shock seeing it look as good as it does on this DVD.

Where else on all the Internet can you have love, fish, and cheesecake all in the same few hours?  Nowhere, that's where.

I have never understood the allure of Tiffany's, breakfast or otherwise.

I'm back from Sierra Madre - got my magazines, spoke to Mr. Harryhausen for a bit, and had him sign the Harryhausen coffee table book and the new DVD of his early work.  There was this "person" named Arnold who, apparently, has overtaken Mr. Harryhausen's life and become his right-hand man so to speak.  If you want Mr. Harryhausen to do anything you have to now go through this twerp named Arnold.  You know how you get a bad vibe or xylophone from some people and you get it instantly?  That was the case here.  I hated him on sight - loud, obnoxious, overbearing, and totally controlling of Mr. Harryhausen.  I spoke to someone about this and what I felt was confirmed - apparently no one likes this pushy little pedant.  Also, I found out that this pushy little pedant yelled at my friend Richard and Margaret's daughter Sophie, when Mr. Harryhausen was at the Renaissance Hotel and Sophie had made all the arrangements for a lovely stay.

Had I remembered that this was the clown that had done that, I would have taken him OUT, verbally, in front of everyone.  I really dislike clowns like this.

I have yet to read the posts for today;  I never finished them yesterday.

In answer to a question a week or so ago about revivals, I'd like to see a revival of "High Spirits."   There are a number of good people who could do it-- even Blythe Danner AND her hair could do a lovely Elvira.  Ah, but for Madame Arcati, we don't have Margaret Rutherfords and Bea Lillies anymore.  Just like no more Paul Fords.

I love both the rilm and the film of "The Matchmaker."  I think it's a perfet cast.  Ms.Booth does a perfect job as Dolly.  I have always admired Messrs. Stewart and Herman for sticking so closely to the original play and for letting the songs flow so easily from the play.  They're not forced at all-- very similar to how easily (most of) the songs flow in "My Fair Lady."

Besides the obvious "Fish Heads," my  favorite song With both love and fish in the title would be "I Love you a Bushel and a Fish."

One of the fishiest songs about love, imho!

"Love"
Music by Hugh Martin, lyrics by Ralph Blane

Love can be a moment's madness
Love can be insane
Love can be a life of sadness and pain

Love can be a summer shower
Love can be the sun
Love can be two hearts that flower as one

It can be, fine and free
But it's true
It doesn't always happen to you

Love can be a dying ember
Love can be a flame
Love pledged in September
May be dead in December
You may not even remember it came

Love can be a joy forever
Or an empty name
Love is almost never ever the same

Love can be a cup of sorrow
Love can be a lie
Love can make you wake tomorrow and sigh

Love can be a snowcapped mountain
Love can be the truth
Love can be an endless fountain of youth

It can be ecstasy
But that kind
Is not so very easy to find

Love can be a tinkling cymbal
Love can be a dirge
Love may seem amusing
A spark constantly fusing
But it may end up on losing it's urge

Oh love can be a sweet endeavor
Or a dirty shame
Love is almost never ever, the same!
