Well, I was a bit off in my prediction that the rain had stopped.  it's coming down pretty good right now.  I do hope that whatever stop-gap measures were done on the roof work.  Because if they don't, I think the bedroom will become a dangerous place, and not in a good way.  By allowing all this time to go by and still having not fixed the floorboards, if water gets down there, who knows if they'll even hold.  As it is, my dresser, normally against the wall, is practically up against the bed.  We'll be having a major discussion about this, inconvenience-wise, when all is said and done.  Here's hoping this rain comes and goes quickly.  So far, the leak off the kitchen area has not appeared and so far water is not finding its way under the doors from the kitchen to the yard, and from the yard to the den.  That's a good thing, so maybe their cleaning of the roof and all the drains did some good.  I just hope that whatever they put up there to stop those leaks is working.

CD Player (at home)
CD Player (at work)  --nothing!  These players now only serve to feed the hungry maw (and pa) of my ravenous iPod.  "Feed me!", it cries!  "Feed me more!  Feed me, NOW!"

iPod:  I'm going through my 80s playlist.  Currently hearing "Destination Unknown"  by Missing Persons.  Some 80's songs provoke wonderful and strange memories.  This one doesn't.

DVD Player:  Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

VHS:  The Amazing Race.  I've been taping it every week in case there is something to review or scrutinize.

Not to beat a dead horse - but I do have the sheet music for "Zing a Little Zong" but it only has one chorus and Bing and Jane sing two more witty ones in the movie.

Dave Willock is very funny (although he is MOST funny in QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE) and I loved him as Cynthia Pepper's father on tv in MARGIE.

Vixmom - I still have my Farfel mug as well, and I must say the way that dog turned its head and snapped its mouth made me laugh and laugh.

DRMBARNUM that picture of that puppet scares me, too.  No wonder there are so many atheists in the world.

DRGEORGE - Oh my, I didn't realize I owned such a treasure.  I got it when the local Civic Theatre was doing the R/H revue and I was putting together a display case for the lobby.  I think it cost me $9.99!

Great news from SWW and derBrucer concerning the music from another room!  Could have been worse....you could've bought them drums!

I had a Jerry Mahoney dummy when I was a kid.  I wanted to be a ventriloquist.  No joke.  Jerry and I were the "emcees" at my 2nd grade Christmas Pageant (remember when schools could have Christmas Pageants?).

Another great Marcos Valle duet, BK:
Check out Seu Encanto, which was Americanized and charted (by Andy Williams among others) as The Face I Love.   Beautiful jazz waltz.  I bet Grant knows all of these Valle tunes--one of the great post-Jobim Brasilian singer/songwriters.

CD:  Marcos Valle, Wanda Sa & Roberto Menescal, Bossa Among Friends

DVD:  Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Bk, as I recall you also have this same Yvonne DeCarlo CD which I received yesterday...what did you think if it?

I was very surprised at what a fine singer she is...and a fine selection of songs, I thought.

I have some very exciting stats for you, but I think I'll hold off stating them for another day.

I have only one thing to say to this fershluganah rain: FALAFEL.  There, I've said it and I'm glad.

Good Morning!  Good Just-Afternoon!

Well... Of course, I ended up futzing with mynew iBook for another or hour or so after logging off.  The one thing I will have to get used to - and it's a good thing - is just how quiet the hard drive and the CD/DVD-ROM drives are.  I got so used to the little clicks and hums on my old Compaq laptop - and most PCs.  I tried playing a DVD last night, and I wasn't sure it was actually working since I didn't hear it working.  But a few seconds later, the DVD player screen popped up, so... :)

And I will not go back to the store today to shop for peripherals.  Nope.  Na' gonna do it.

-Besides, since I slept in, I don't have time now to head over to the store, so...  :-\

The only thing I may need to go back for is an extra USB cable so that I can transfer some stuff over from my old laptop.  But I think I'll just be e-mailing most of that stuff to myself, since I really don't have that much stuff on there.  -Remember the days when a 2GIG HARDdrive was BIG!

I'm assuming that because falafel is the word of the day, we must now become acolytes (hmmm....where have I heard that word) of Bill O'Reilly?  Please, NOOOOOOOO.  Another attitudinal "conservative" with a deviant private life.

I, too, am amazed by how quiet the Powerbook is.  My Dell was so noisy it was actually distracting to work with all those fans and internal clicks and pops.  This sucker is QUIET.

I must say, for one who rarely sits at the piano anymore, I've been there quite a lot in the last eight months.  I'm enjoying playing through songs and rediscovering things I haven't heard in a bit.  I just added another to the "finals".

RE: Lunch - I have the CD (I think), and the vocal selections book (I definitely know I have that).  Quite the roster of singers on the CD.  I even seem to remember a floor display for it at Tower Records, big posters too.  They were really trying to make it the next big thing.  I think I may have listened to the CD once, at the most twice.  Eh...

And the vocal selections book is apparently taken right from the piano/conductor's score since parts of the accompaniments are "sketchy" and look like instrumental cues.  It's just a weird, inconvenient read.

Ohhh, pretty FALAFEL!

elmore, George Davis married Lotte Lenya, then assorted sailors from the Brooklyn Navy Yard???  Well, I guess being married to Lotte Lenya could send one to the Brooklyn Navy Yard... Oh...oh...wait, I didn't see that comma...Never mind!

MBarnum, is Scott Miller (alias Denny Miller...sometimes billed as Denny Scott Miller, I believe) in any of your Wagon Train Episodes?

Yesterday, my friend Eric Johnson sent me back a magazine that had a picture of him from my Sherlock Holmes play, THE EBONY APE, that was in Scarlet Street.  Silly boy. It was his to keep and I must now send it back to him.  But what was interesting was that the magazine (from 2003, #49) was a vertiable HainesHisWay issue...there's an article on me, there's an article on BK and Jeepers Creepers, there are articles by MBarnum on muscleman actors, Mark Forest and Reg Lewis, and a full-page ad for Jeepers Creepers.

CD:  HAINESHISWAY, what else? All this talk of a new album has whetted my appetite.  Also PRINCE OF FOXES.  And The Film Music Society is supposed to be mailing out my copy of Miklos Rozsa's restored JUNGLE BOOK with an interview of the Maestro by my pal, historian Rudy Behlmer.  Since they're across the hill in the valley, maybe I'll have it by tomorrow's mail.

DVD:  TUNES OF GLORY with Alec Guinness, John Mills, and introducing Susannah York. More FRACTURED FLICKERS & SCTV.

NIGHT STAND: BRAN MAK MORN by Robert E. Howard

Well, up until eight months ago (when I was doing the Writer's Block songs) I just never sat down there (this was in the other house).  Sometimes I'd noodle whilst standing, but I just never went near it.  Then, starting with the Writer's Block songs, I began to enjoy it, and then came What If, and then I've just become a regular again.

I don't have Yvonne De Carlo CD; but I did dinner theatre with her back in the late Sevenites in a very funny British sex farce... MOVE OVER, MRS. MARKHAM by Ray Cooney.

DR td - So sorry to hear about your loss of Minx.

DR Ann - You didn't need bad job news just as you were beginning to feel better!  Hope it works out for you.

Friday media check:

CD (car) - audiobook, David McCullough's bio of John Adams.  At our staff development day last fall, I attended a session put on by Recorded Books, Inc., which featured the audio reader Johnny Heller.  There were doorprizes and I got to pick any one item from the company's catalog.

iPod - guitar music performed by a Dayton-area musician, Jim McCutcheon.  He's very talented and a very gracious person.  You can visit him at:
jim.mccutcheon.biz

DVD - Midsomer Murders "Market for Murder."  DH Richard said he started to watch this last night while I was at work (he's an avid British mystery fan).  When he realized it was all about a ladies book group, he decided to save it for us to watch together.  What a sweetie, huh?

Miss De Carlo always seemed like a randy type to me.

And speaking of randy, perhaps I should tell the amusing tale of The Randy Vicar and the Falafel.

BK, other than noodling around for a couple of minutes on my piano, I've never heard you play.  Dan from erstwhile MUSIC & MEMORIES ("The vinyl resting place") once told me you played brilliantly, by the way.  What's Dan's last name?...I've completely forgotten it...Alvino?
