Very nice, DR Jrand68.
Growing up in Fort Lauderdale, someone we knew was moving or something and we adopted their parakeet named "Peepit", and he remained a family member for all of his years. He was great to have around, but my one regret was that his former owner had gotten him used to having a little mirror thingy in the cage, and he was addicted to sitting next to it all day pecking and chirping at his image. As I recall, we were told that that would pretty much cancel out any "speech" learning ability of a bird, although I guess parakeets aren't the real talkers anyway. But I did grow to love birds, and it was great years later to get to know and occasionally babysit a friend's parrots in California.
