We have a fun day ahead, and you are all going to be jealous when I tell you about it.

I am already.  I'd love to have the Arizona weather.

I recall the attention Victoria Clark got after she spent a vacation in Phoenix before playing Sally in FOLLIES, since Buddy and Sally live in Phoenix ("now folks we bring you direct from Phoenix...")   But days like this, it feels very smart, like it must also have been a very pleasant research trip.  (Wonder if she met up with Barbara Harris, who lived in Scottsdale so many years)

I am watching The Patty Duke Show.....Patty and Cathy are BOTH playing Cleopatra in the school play.....when Cathy put the snake to her bosom.....Patty fell down.....

That will be in the sequel to her memoir "Call Me Anna" - "Call Me Anna-conda!"

In the notes, maybe I'm focusing on the wrong things, but "I personally find rye bread wry, don’t you?" really could have used a spit-take alert.

TOD from yesterday:
Mark and I were evacuated at 3:00 am Friday morning, as we live in Thousand Oaks. It was horrible. We spent two hours packing and filled both our cars to the brim with valuables, including a cat and a dog. We didn't know where to go. We headed to my office in Woodland Hills to store some stuff, and started calling hotels. They were all booked, or didn't take pets. We finally found one that was booked, but some people had checked out early. We were so lucky in that regard. We had to buy a bunch of stuff at Target, like a cat box, litter, and toiletries for us. We ate sub sandwiches in the room for dinner. We slept that night, and  were going to stay for the next day, but there was a screw-up at the front desk and they couldn't see our reservation was through Sunday and they kicked us out at noon. I had friends who said they had just gone home, even though the evacuation order was still in place, so we did the same. When I got to our neighborhood it was as if there never was an evacuation, people and cars all up and down the streets - hilarious. We got the phone call at 7:30 pm last night saying the evacuation order had been lifted, whew! The air quality is terrible, but I have a mask for going outside.

One interesting side note is that up until about a week ago, I've never had a smart phone - I've been living in the dark ages with only a flip phone and perfectly happy with it. But it finally got to where I could get a smart phone plan cheaper than my flip phone pay-as-you-go plan, so I finally took the plunge and got an iPhone 7. It was very very handy for the evacuation as the hotel didn't have a business center. With it, I could e-mail my family and check for updates.

The bed is winterized, and Thatch and Annabelle had their morning treats.  The rest of the day should go smoothly, I hope.

Yesterday was not a fun day. Mom got a call from a neighbor who said she found Dad wandering in her backyard. Mom said he must have left while she was doing laundry. My sister was planning on going on, so she did so. I really don't know what they worked out, other than they're trying to have a stronger trip alarm in place whenever the doors open.

I am so sorry.  This has got to be very scary.  Can you get a tracker on him?

Yes, get that electrical issue fixed or you'll never know when the battery is going to crap out again. Since one light circuit seems to be the problem, this annoyance should be easy for them to resolve. (Famous last words.)

Vibes your famous last words are correct.

I didn't want a smart phone either, mostly because of the size, and I love my smart phone.  I still have the smallest size possible.

The shortage of hotel rooms might explain why I read Martin Sheen and his wife were probably going to sleep in their car after evacuating from Malibu.

Why not a fan son Charlie, I found it sweet that the car comment was in reply to Charlie going public and asking if anyone had seen his parents as he couldn't reach them.

Good news that you’re safe, Amy. I just saw that Robin Thicke and Shannon Doherty lost their homes.

I read a nice story of James Woods twitting to help Alyssa Milano evacuate her horses.

Getting Annabelle to come down from her linen closet aerie for a meal is too difficult.  Tonight, while i was trying to lure her down, Thatch ate his dinner and hers.  I've cleaned and dusted the closet, put the laundry away, and closed it so she cannot get inside there any more.  And besides, she got a new amazon carton today.

Is the official observance of Veterans Day tomorrow? As in, no mail?

Watching the rest of Stage Fright. It's very British. Reminds me of a J.B. Priestley novel. And I'm enjoying it, even if it is minor Hitchcock.

My loofah has started to produce fruit. Strange during a week in which we're expecting frost.

I had to get my certification to pour wine tonight. I have to do this every two years and it's never easy. The class takes 2.5 hours with irritating quizzes throughout.
