2019 SOSSE Best Supporting Actor Nominees:
Tom Birkeland as Edward P. Mitchell in "Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "Played exquisitely by Tom Birkeland, the role is the anchor piece for what happens on stage. Mr. Birkeland has never been better than he is in this outing.
Howy Howard as Les in "Newsies, The Broadway Musical," for Tacoma Musical Playhouse.
What we said. "Ten-year-old Howy Howard played the daylights out of the role of “Les!” He nails his lines, sings the songs accurately and on key.
W. Scott Pinkston as Roy Cohn in "Angels in America" for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "Mr. Pinkston is, quite simply, a great actor! There is a lot of meat on the bone in the character of Roy Cohn, and Scott Pinkston filets it for the audience to see."
Kyle Sinclair as Franz Liebkind in "The Producers" for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "Kyle Sinclair makes us laugh just by showing up...we offer wild kudos to him for his role as Franz Liebkind... Mr. Sinclair took the play from funny to over-the-top."
Ton L. Williams as Belize/Angel of Oceana in "Angels in America" for Lakewood Playhouse.
What we said: "This may be his finest hour. As Belize, Mr. Williams is flamboyant without being a caricature. As Roy Cohn’s nurse, he is multi-dimensional.
Congratulations to all the nominees!
