THE MYSTERIANS.....oh....I saw the television promos for this one, and yes it was 1959....and we wanted to see it so much....please please please. It was one of those movies where you kept waiting for something to happen. Nothing much did, but it had some interesting science in it.

We want to marry your women. I don't remember that I thought that was much a threat.

Good morning, all! I'm listening to Rebecca Luker sing "The Faithful Heart," which is becoming one of my favorite songs, along with Mr Haines' "Look for a Star."

I'm not quite ready for my closeup this morning, and I have to admit that the only Laurel & Hardy film I know is (ready?) BABES IN TOYLAND. I've always wanted to see THE BOHEMIAN GIRL, since it's based on one of my least favorite operas and can only be an improvement.

So, Dear Friend BK, who's this Angus I'm calling and what is his establishment?

I like the silent films of L/H best - the sound films have all kinds of takes and making faces....works better in silents.

Although "The Music Box" is a classic, I always feel like the owner of the piano, and it's just too painfully real.

I guess I identify a lot with the Jimmy Finlayson or Billy Gilbert characters in most of these films.

Whatever the one is where Stan and Ollie are on a high rise construction site. There is a scene where a crab crawls up Stanley's pants leg while he's on perched on a girder that always cracks me up.

Without doing research to find the title, I always loved the one with them in drag playing each other's wives.

THE MUSIC BOX is a favorite of mine and the scene where the nurse is pushing the baby carriage while L and H are moving the piano is hilarious!

MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS has some great L and H routines, and SONS OF THE DESERT is pretty good too.

I have not seen many of their silent comedies...maybe I need to check those out.

THE MUSIC BOX won the Oscar for Best Short Film the year it was nominated. A year or two later, TIT FOR TAT was nominated but didn't win. I've never seen it.

Members of Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas - most of whom are family members - gained national notoriety when they protested outside the 1998 funeral for Matthew Shepard, the gay college student beaten to death in Wyoming.

The murder led to the play "The Laramie Project" in which Phelps is depicted. The award winning play will run for four days beginning Thursday at the Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne.

Phelps and his followers plan to picket the museum and six area churches that he claims are tolerant of gays.
The Equal Rights Coalition has scheduled the forum for 11 a.m. Sunday at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne

One of the IDOL write-ups this morning was outraged that Nikko Smith was ejected last night claiming that he was among the four best male singers in the competition.

In what universe? He and Mario have the exact pitch and tone to their voices - very boy band tenor-esque - but apart from Constantine whose voice is very erratic, all of the other five men selected last night have superior voices to Nikko's. I think they did well in the selection of those five.

The women, with less talent to pick from, kept the best voices apart from Mikalah whose selection was my only disappointment last night. But I'm willing to tolerate her presence in the finals since she isn't going to win inevitably, so her ouster is just a matter of time.

I really think it will come down to a Bo-Mario shootout in the finals with Nadia a possible dark horse.
