Thanks to dear reader Pogue for mentioning the Tumi wallet.  I have just purchased one - so much slimmer and compact than the one I've been using.  And not that expensive, either.

I went looking for coats but, as you might imagine, it's hard to find anything in California that's appropriate for chilly weather.  After four or five stores I was ready to call it quits, but on a whim I went into Banana Republic to see if they had anything.  They had a really nice beige suede coat - a bit longer than I'm used to, but very warm.  It was three hundred bucks, which I didn't think was outrageous, and it fit, so I took it.  The salesperson rang it up and to both his and my surprise it was on sale for eighty bucks.  Hoo and ray, was all I could say.  Even if I don't end up using it a lot, for eighty bucks it's a helluva coat.

Rob's quitting the roadblock was a good move, but I hope it doesn't happen all the time...that would get a bit boring if nobody completes the roadblocks.

I was sad about the duo who lost also...however, I don't think they deserved, as anyone can make a mistake. And what a frustrating mistake it was!

I am kind of not caring for Rob and Amber, personality wise...and that really is how I pick my favorites on this show...although I guess I should go by skill...

Awaiting my hate mail,

Der Brucer

NEVER!! :D

You give a lot to think about.  There are some cases so henious where I think the death penalty should be applied swiftly and in kind.... I, for one who be right there to see Susan Smith tied to a chair and the room slowly flooded so she could experience some of the terror she put her poor little boys through, heck, I'd flood the room myself...

On the other hand, when there are no eye witnesses and no confession I would be opposed to the death penalty in spite of a guilty verdict.

I agree it probably doesn't at as a deterrent the first time (of course, we can never know for certain how many people have restrained themselves from murder, not for moral reasons but for fear of the punishment) but it sure keeps the perpatrator from repeating the act.

It drives me crazy when I hear of a murder suspect  who was just released after "serving three years on a manslaughter conviction"

My problem with the  right side of the political spectrum (prepare for super generalities now)  is that they allow business to pollute the air, the water, cut down trees and otherwise destroy the environment, remove as many of the safeguards for the common man as possible, talk about smaller government,(meaning hands off big business) and yet want to legislate what goes on in my bedroom and my doctor's office

awaiting my hatemail...with love and kisses to all... :-*

Many of the issues you talk about DR derBrucer have NOT been legislated, they have been adjudicated - and the MAJORITY view has not been counted by vote.

I did not intend anything in my arguments to suggest who/what brought about the reality. Inasmuch as we live in a constitutional system that regulary plays "majority rule" against "judicial restraint (or activism, if you must) the real world I am addressing is unlikely to be significantly altered in the near future. For example, the US born children of illegal aliens will continue to be US citizens and be ellible for medical benefits - S%@T, the feds can't even manage to muster the resources to deport convicted illegal felons who are being released from prison!

That being said, have you issue with the arguments I proferred ?

I suspect the package I sent won't arrive until after you left,  The USPS tracking system is still only showing confirmation of shipping the package on Monday

Can you believe that there is not one single video rental store in all of Salem, Oregon, USA, that has a copy of QUEEN BEE on DVD or VHS!

As BK would say, SKAMMEN!!

I am now going to shell out 20 dollars to get a copy off of Amazon.com.

And, personally, I would glad hold your jacket - but we would be confronted with a chorus of people talking about "post partum psyhosis" and arguing that Jesus would love this poor sinner and show mercy.

Hey, you confessed to generalities and didn't confuse "right side" with all of a particular party. On the issues you address I suspect we would generally agree, and so would the politicans whose campaigns I have supported. (My candidates are pro-choice, have Sierra Club endorsements, support gay rights and reasonable gun control, and urge removing federal barriers to embryonic stem cell research.)

Remember, the (fantasy) world I live in has a Republican party that supports limited government, social responsiblity for the care of the less fortunate (including animals and the planet), and indivdual responsibily to address personal, private conduct and ones' realtionship, or not, with the Divine.

AGGRANDIZE!

I had to go back to the cleaners because they'd inadvertantly left out quite a few items of clothing when I picked up my stuff yesterday.  I've got everything now.

And so you will arrive in NYC dressed in  new au courant outerwear, carrying a new Tumi bag, and a new Tumi wallet in your pocket - AND with your new highlights!

We need a photo of you at the airport!

It is sunny and beautiful here on the Ilse of Long, but very cold, in the 20's...that coat will come in handy...you may want to add matching gloves and a hat  ;)

AMAZING RACE:

I do wish the girls who lost had stuck around.  As I said they showed a lot of promise.  But DR MBarnum, I disagree with your comments that "anyone can make that mistake".  This is a race.  They had maps.  There were signs posted all over the highways.  To drive 2.5 hours in the wrong direction is not a small mistake.

The mother/son got lost.  And it cost them.  But they weren't driving for hours past where they were supposed to go.

To me the girls made a huge mistake.  And in this game, people often lose by bad luck.  I'd rather see people lose for making really bad mistakes.  It's at least justified!

Hmmm, I totally love ROMBER.  I love their attitude. I love watching them.  They are funny, and Rob is so cunning and skilled. He was born to do this! :)

DR MBarnum, I see you always root for the nice/sweet teams.  My sister-in-law is the same. I always know which teams she will like.  Although as of last week she actually really liked Rob/Amber. So we shall see.

Anyhow, I will be interested to see what this BIG thing is next week that Rob does. Any ideas?

With your luck, they'll change equipment and you'll get a plane whose overhead will not accommodate your Tumi, and you'll get to fly with your Tumi tucked beneath your legs - and be sieaed next to a child who will play his GameBoy for as long as the batteries last (and Mom carries a spare!).
