BK, re: Newsweek. Time's become like that too. Welcome to the USA TODAY effect. Pop news. Same with most networks. Lots hip graphics and stylistic touches...very little substantial news.
That's why I go on the internet and read newspapers. And watch the BBC World News. The only news magazine I read anymore is THE WEEK. which is still a bit capuslated...but it usually distills both sides of an argument down to the pertinent basics without a lot of bullshit rhetoric .
Walter Cronkite used to give us more real, hard news in 15 minutes than any 24-hour news channel now on the air.
Rodzinski, Doug Hickox's career wasn't stellar, but he was a strong solid director (came out of British commercials, I think) and did some interesting films: Theatre of Blood, my Hound of the Baskervilles, Zulu Dawn (prequel to Zulu about Ishlandhwana), and Entertaing Mr. Sloane. He also did a Duke Wayne cop film called Brannigan and a nice mini-series of Robt. Louis Stevenson's Master of Ballantrae with Michael York and Richard Thomas.
