We probably all get a lot of email, but today was unreal. I usually delete 1/3 to 1/2 of it without even opening it. It still piles up. I was, however, able to make a few purchases at better prices than usual.

It's been a long, long time since I ventured out to a shopping mall on Black Friday. One year in Alexandria, VA I tried to do some grocery shopping, completely forgetting that I'd have to drive past a shopping mall. The traffic was horrendous! I'm more careful now.

Then I went to Jerry's Deli for a sandwich.  I figured after everyone stuffing themselves to the bursting point last night and having tons of leftovers that Jerry's would be empty.  Well, no, it was jammed and I got some lox to go and left.

Those customers may have eaten T-Day dinner out or at a friend's house. Or maybe they're just pigs! The place I stopped at was surprisingly busy, too.

I've been watching a French series called BALTHAZAR. It's about a forensic scientist who helps the police. It's interesting.

Tom, did you spend yesterday with your family? Tiff between your sister and her daughter patched up now?

Because, yes, I am lazy enough to teach a child how to fix Thanksgiving dinner.

The word I’d use is smart.

My mother made left over mashed potato patties, fried with Golden Syrup.  They are soooo good.  Does Vixdad like Lyle's Golden Syrup?

My neighbor Mark, the jazz pianist, just brought me a plate of garlic shrimp and rice, which I am now having for dinner.  It's really delicious.

That was nice of him.

My son and his family were all sick yesterday. Wae-Ling ate an entire plate of just turkey, dressing, and gravy.

I am sorry.  I guess that means they stayed home.

The garlic scampi was very garlic-y and quite delish.  I walked to the market and got a few things.  The annual Christmas Tree Lane has been set up at the corner market, so the corner of 82nd and Amsterdam smells of pine.  It will remain up until Christmas Eve.

Lovely.

Smart enough to teach her.

The day after Thanksgiving is always a madhouse at Texas barbecue joints. Enough of that turkey nonsense. Bring on the brisket and ribs.

Then she had to go home and have dinner with her family. Which was one of those boxed meals. I don't know why her dad won't let her fix their dinner.

You mean she didn't get to eat any of it?

I feel guilty about doing this, however, I am beginning to unsubscribe to many of the emails from groups I like to support. or follow.  It has just gotten out of control.

We went to Beaches.  I am stuffed.

We found out that a regular customer, Roger, whom we have become friendly with passed away yesterday.  We knew this was going to happen, still it is very sad.  Last week his waitress & good friend/extended family member gave us a card to sign.  She said he appreciated what Keith wrote.

The bar tender stopped by to say hello & was also sad about his passing.  Because the wait staff is encouraged to be personal with the customers you really get to visit with them and to know them better.  This waitress became friends with Roger years ago as he was a customer.  Then she introduced him to other customers she became close with, and then we met them all.  She made many trips to visit Roger while he was too sick to get out.

Since it is Black Friday I looked online to see if the stroller Bryan & Kate wants is on sale.  It was so we purchased it.  Our plan was to wait until January to buy it.  This was a good savings & shipping was included.

Aside from buying something we knew we wanted, we did not do any other shopping.

A woman rang our number from the call box and I ran out to help her.  She called us by mistake but her mission was a kind one.  She & the driver of her car found the wallet of one of our neighbors in the Fred Meyer parking lot.  They drove around searching for our place.  I walked her to his unit & fortunately he was home (if not I would have sent an email that we had his wallet).  He was totally surprised & clueless that his wallet was missing.

He does not, he is not a fan of anything overly sweet
