DR Jane, I went to the clinic 3 hours after I originally arrived and got right in.  They had already called my name, so I was next in to see the doctor.

She gave me some nose spray.  But I don't think that will be enough. My head was hurting really bad yesterday, and again today.  So not sure what to do.

I am so glad that Danise was able to ice skate at Rockerfeller Center.  AI was afraid that with the miserable weather we are having that she would not be able to!!

Has anyone else with AOL (please tell me I'm not the only one left :) ) noticed that the start-up picture of Rehnquist looks frighteningly like DR Elmoore on heroin?

Of course, I am only guessing what DR Elmoore would look like on heroin, but methinks it would be scarily similar to this photo of Rehnquist.  ;)

Danise called and was very excited and pleased with herself.  She wants you all to know she went ice skating today and didn’t kill herself. ;D

Yea Danise!  I've never gone ice skating at all.  I don't doubt that I would kill myself if I ever did try!

I love the Godspell photos Joey, give us more !!

This show has always been a favorite of mine. I was in a church production of this when I was a sphmore or juinor in high school, as part of a spaghetti dinner fund raiser ... although in those less sophisticated days, and in the absence of any real musicians,  we sang to the record... (yeah it was back in the stone age of  VINYL RECORDS!!)  I'm so oooold...

I was lucky enough to see Bobby Short at the Roxy in LA, in the days when the Roxy played home to the likes of Mr. Short, The Manhattan Transfer, Melissa Manchester (and Billy Crystal, who opened for her), and Peter Allen.  I saw them all.  I saw Mr. Short when I was in the midst of doing the Dinah Shore series on CBS.  Whey you're in a series on a major network, you are treated like royalty everywhere, and so I was taken backstage to meet Mr. Short, who was lovely and gracious.  What a treat.

Ooh, ooh, I just had a great idea.  Let's do a Prince & the Pauper and/or Prisoner of Zenda and substitute Larry for Bill on the Supreme Court.  The nation (and a certain constantly confounded President) will be stunned by a rash (figuratively, of course) of liberal decisions:  legalization of gay marriage, Congress unable to dictate Michael Schaivo's decisions, no overturning of Roe v. Wade or even the Oregon Death with Dignity act.  We need to make this happen today!!

I was fortunate to see Bobby Short live twice...once at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.  And once out here at the Wiltern (or was it the Wilshire?...It's on Wilshire in Bev Hills).

I was never able to see Bobby Short live, the expense of the Cafe Carlyle was out of my reach, but I have many of his CDs. We will listen to one tonight as we have dinner.

What a classy gentleman he was.

When Bobby Short wrote his biography around 1983, I worked on a party for him at a now-defunct bookstore, Theatre Arts Books, on 42nd and 9th Avenue.  He was a very gracious gentleman.  I wish I could have afforded a book at the time for him to sign.

What a sad title!!!  Is it possible Baxter is a permanent additon?  He seems to be your favorite  (gosh, I hope the other  dogs aren't reading this!!)
Well...

I had a soft spot in my heart for Benny from the first moment I saw him, with that two-tone nose and the mange on his forehead.  He looked so silly and helpless at the same time.

But der B and I know we can't keep them.  For one thing, his son-in-law makes disparaging remarks every time another dog gets added to the household, and it's easier finding new homes for the dogs than it is finding a new son-in-law.  (Particularly since we like the SIL better than the daughter!   :o)

More importantly, we can get stretched too thin if we aren't careful.  When we were fostering Zeus, it was difficult to spread our attention among six dogs.  We're spread thin again now, with Peggy and Baxter added to the mix (although Fletcher "adopting" Bax and playing with Peggy helps a lot).

So we've decided the best thing to do is to love the dogs we take in, give them the best home possible while they're here and bolster their self-confidence, and then find good homes for them, feeling good about having been that intermediary step.

And, in the case of Peggy and her pups, these were dogs that the SPCA was going to slaughter put down destroy slaughter if they weren't picked up that day.  We had a very short time-window pick them up; Diane, our Animal Rescue contact, was in panic mode until she got ahold of us.

If we have a problem with the Animal Rescue groups, it is that they're very good at getting the animals (cats, too), but not adept at finding new homes.  Part of this is due to a paranoia about what kinds of homes the animals get place in; the tales of people getting animals simply to torture them, use them as bait for dog fights and other abuses are, unfortunately, true.  But this can be countered by getting out there and meeting with the adopting families, like der B and I were able to do for Benny and his new family.  Generally we can tell from a short visit whether a home is appropriate or not, by how the people treat each other and react to strangers (not that we're all that strange...well... ::)

But this brings up the second level of the problem, in that der B and I are willing to invest the time to help.  Even the people who have been doing this for some time have other things to take care of in their lives.  (I'm certain DR Laura will agree on this point.)  We're lucky, that we have the time to invest as well as the willingness.

So, Peggy and Baxter will be with us for a while yet, but no, we won't keep them if we can find them homes.  And there are so many other dogs who need help.

Now, if we could only hook up with someone who has this great formula for winning at the casino, like in Lucky Stiff!

To answer the question about the cast of Spamalot. I believe Hank Azaria is leaving in June to return to LA to do the second season of his tv series HUFF for SHOWTIME. He phones in his Simpsons performances. I think James Ludwig might be his replacement.

Guess what, DRRODZINSKI it just arrived!

I will be listening to Arch in just a few minutes...along with the GREAT surprise.  And thanks so much for including the disk for you know who.

The booklet is fascinating!  Is there NO film or song so awful, that it's creator is not proud of it?  I would reckon not.

Great JRand!
Yeah, that has to be the weirdest ratio of talent-to-amount of liner notes ever. It's a mini-novel!

My only quibble is the lack of Arch's song "Vallerie", the ballad from EEGAH. Maybe saving for volume 2?
