Toilet paper hysteria has been replaced with mask hysteria.  Someone actually said, "If you're not wearing a mask and someone sneezes directly on you, you'll get it."  Since there's a shortage of the real masks where they actually need them, if you're wearing any other kind of mask and someone is close enough to sneeze on you, you're getting it anyway.  Now people are wearing goggles and trying to cover every inch of their skin, but sill aren't within six feet of anyone so to what end?  But our mayor here is feeding this beast daily, and you can't argue with people on Facebook because they're like a herd of panicked dogs.

If you wear a mask and the other person wears a mask there is more protection.  If you wear goggles not only the virus can't it get into your eyes, you can't touch your eyes with germy hands.

Before it was stated you only need to wear a mask if you are sick, however, by the time you know you are sick others have been exposed.    I think this is the real reason for the current push to wear masks.

If you're not near anyone what's the point???  Now it gets in your eyes by osmosis?  Sorry, I'm not buying into this one.

I've been very indecisive about food.  I called Barone's to do that - no one minding the store and no answering machine, plus some disastrous Yelp  reviews about how they do pick up, so that's now a no-go.  So, I picked up a package, came home, went to Door Dash and literally could not find anything under twenty dollars and that was for McDonald's and I can drive there.  So, I made eggs in tortillas - two - and ate them.  Not satisfying or anything I really wanted, but I just couldn't make more pasta.  The good news is that the two egg/tortilla things were only 420 calories.

Listening to the last of the Jiri Srnka pieces - Czech not Polish - great stuff.  He was a prolific film composer and I'm listening to a suite from one of films that's just fantastic.

Scary DR GINNY.

Two policeman were called to my neighborhood yesterday because two men were in the yard of the house behind mine....they had pulled up in a truck with a home made trailer pulled behind it.

They tried the front door and then proceeded to go into the backyard.

Oh...it's was me who called the police.  When they came one of the men showed the policeman a piece of paper and the police left....then the man waved to me as I was standing in the door....

It COULD have been something.....might have been something.....well it was nothing....

You did the right thing calling the police.  I hope the wave was friendly and they understood.

Not osmosis.  Why do you think they have been say not to touch your face and eyes, and to stay 6 feet away?

Does this help?

"COVID-19 is believed to spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or from coming into contact with an infected surface and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

There’s some evidence that COVID-19 may also be transmitted through much smaller airborne droplets in “very specific circumstances and settings,” such as “aerosolizing” medical procedures that cause the person cough or spit, such as suctioning or intubation, according to the WHO.

And in a letter to the White House, Harvey Fineberg, chairman of the National Academy of Sciences Standing Committee on Emerging Infectious Diseases and 21st Century Health Threats, also said that aerosolized droplets can be produced by simply talking or breathing, CNN reported Thursday. “Currently available research supports the possibility that [coronavirus] could be spread via bioaerosols generated directly by patients’ exhalation,” he wrote."

I've read it all, dear Jane.  I'm saying that if you're not near anyone goggles are irrelevant as are masks.  If you're intending to stand close to folks, sure, wear 'em.  But to walk around in a mask and goggles when your solo and no one is anywhere near you?  Sorry, not for me.  As to touching your eyes after someone has breathed on you or sneezed on you or coughed on you at close range, I haven't had that issue and I don't really touch my eyes too much under any circumstances.

In tonight's moronic press conference, Trump announced he tested negative this morning for the virus.  Pity.

And on that, good night, all!

And, in other news, early this morning a car was found a few blocks from here with 2 bodies inside - gunshot victims, a man and a woman, both from Cleveland.  The car had been stopped just after midnight for a headlight violation.  Things must have escalated in the ensuing 5 hours.

How disturbing. Vibes to DR Ginny.

I never considered the mask or goggles unless you were near other people.

For now we do not plan to wear masks when we walk, only for shopping if we can get some.  It would be the same for goggles, which I won't tolerated well anyway.  I do have prescription ones for swimming if it comes down to that.  They really hurt after awhile.

Once the weather warms up we may be forced to wear masks to walk, or walk in the street to avoid people.

I wish he would stop wasting precious tests.  It would just be better if he practiced social distancing when doing press conferences.

Also, the test produces false negatives. You can test negative, but still have it.

I like the idea of wearing home made masks.  If only I could sew.

Lots of people are making homemade masks these days and donating them to local hospitals and others who really need them. Once those who need them have all they need I'd like to see some cute and fun masks.

Once Covid is finally over I hope that people who are sick and go to work or out in public will at least wear a mask. I hope by then it will be standard procedure to wear one when ill.

Jane, do you know any dressmakers? Masks aren't difficult to make. You could have some fun ones custom-made. I suspect we'll see some websites soon doing just that. I really like the idea of using shoe laces for the straps.

My allergy mask uses a special fabric that is designed to keep out pollen and dust, then it's lined with another fabric. I bought it on Amazon a couple years ago, but couldn't find it the other day. Mask-making could soon become a cottage industry.

?? Glasses of any sort would provide some protection. My doctor usually wears glasses when seeing patients, instead of his contacts, for the protection they offer. He's been doing this for many years, so nothing to do with Covid.

Keith ordered some.  I sent our daughter in-law a pattern for making masks that fit over an N95.  She wrote back that there is very conflicted and limited evidence on whether fabric masks over N95s makes them any safer to reuse, and no official data.  She doesn't think Bryan will wear one.  She did offer to make us masks if we want some.

Well, I've been at work all day and I'm finally leaving.  Whew!  It really wasn't too bad.  And a co-worker was here, too...don't worry, he was far enough away.  Now, I'm hungry, so I'm going to the local Meconi's Subs and getting a sub to go (of course).

Be back later.
