There was a huge line at Costco. I had to wait 20 minutes to be allowed in. I was able to find only 75 percent of what I needed, not including the extras that somehow flew into my cart and refused to leave until I had paid for them. These included a bad of limoncello-white chocolate dipped almonds. they won't last until Easter.

;D oh those darn extras.

DR Vixmom I have been reading that many property sales have been postponed or cancelled.  Has business slowed down for you?

Well, so far today I've just been lying (laying?) in bed doing nothing.

A couple of hours ago, my dad called while my phone was set to silent and left a message asking if I could come over because his headphones don't seem to be working.  My mom just called me as I was typing this message and said that she got his headphones working, so I won't need to go over today.  Tomorrow, I'll go over to visit and have some spaghetti. :)

But now I must be going.  I want to take a shower and get dressed.  Also, my tablet battery is almost dead, so I need to charge it up.  I have it plugged in but sometimes it doesn't charge quickly enough while I'm using it. :P

Be back later.

I saw THE FIRST PICTURE SHOW during its first run, but I don't remember if it was before or after AA Nominations.

My brother and his friend Rick went into the neighboring theatre to see THE GODFATHER and I saw PICTURE SHOW......then waiting a LONG time for them to come out.....

Hmmmmm....THE GODFATHER was released in 1972.....that's weird....  Maybe since it was released in March, 1972, PICTURE SHOW was being run again after the nominations....

As DR CHAS SMITH wrote it was very disturbing to see Mr Peter Bogdonavitch......he has on rose colored glasses and one of the lenses is heavily smoked so you can see his left eye....

Of course he dresses in his best John Smithee neck scarf.....  There is a podcast with Ben Mankiewicz on April 28.

Had a Philly cheesesteak, small, from Jersey Mike's - surprisingly excellent.  Next up, a small turkey.  I'm about to do a test just to make sure the link comes through as clickable then I'll delete the post immediately.

I also tried a Facebook live on the phone and it worked fine and immediately there were like ten people watching.  So, I'll introduce the evening on Facebook Live and that will be fun.  I may come on live just after posting each new video.

I did go to Archer City, where the Dairy Quuen is bedecked in Larry McMurtry memorabilia.

And I did meet him for a split second st one of the book stores. I was afraid of his reputation, so I simply asked if he had any Dawn Powell and Zora Neale Hurston. He pointed me in the right directions. I said thanks and went iff in one direction. I eventually found what I was looking for in both places.

We drove to Fred Meyer and parked.  Then we did our walk over to Fort Vancouver which was relaxing and not stressful like walking here.  Most of the people were polite and practiced proper social distancing.  The few that didn't were easy to avoid by walking on the lawn.  The fort spread out with large grass areas, large enough to host 4th of July partying and fireworks.  Hmm, I wonder if that will be cancelled this year.  I hope so.

I’ve read just about everything of the McMurtry’s. Some are better than others. I loved Texasville, the sequel to Last Picture Show, though the movie was nowhere near as brilliant as the book. I also loved Lonesome Dove and its sequel, Streets of Laredo.

We saw a few people wearing masks.  We also saw neighbors walking by our building wearing masks for the first time.

Peter Bogdanovich has had a most uneven track record. I would say his first handful of movies were brilliant and then it all evaporated. There were rumors cocaine was everywhere on the set of At Long Last Love, which he denies. There other rumors that his genius friends who helped him in the early years, like Orson Welles, died off, leaving him to his own dubious talents. Whatever the reason, he stopped making good movies somewhere around the time of Nickelodeon.

Bogdanovich was way to uppity for his own good.  I will say that I saw The Last Picture Show (didn't see Targets until the 1980s) on the day it opened, or maybe even at a preview - and I was not as in love with it as most.  I found it paced oddly and a couple of performances annoyed me.  I did like Cybill, though, and Jeff Bridges was very good.  In subsequent years my feelings haven't really changed.  I thought What's Up, Doc worked well then and it works well now, and both films are fine without scores.  But it's everything after those - he willfully doesn't use actual scores and it's mostly to the detriment of the films.  His Noises Off is horrible, I can't stand They All Laughed, Nickelodeon is awful, Mask is okay, and the rest are terrible.  And I cannot listen to him speak or watch him - he always sounds like he's sucking food out of his teeth.

Does anyone else remember Peter Lemongello, and his Love '76  Mood Rock experience?

His ads convinced us that there really was a thing called Mood Rock.  But I think it was invented for his TV ads, which really did get him a following and  a career.

They really should change the name of Fort Dix if no one can say it without getting titters.
