Su Lin is in love with Levi.  Han Chow is in love with Su Lin.  I think at that time Levi clearly knows Su Lin and he could never be together and to protect her he sends them to Chicago, which is based on fact - he did that to protect his Chinese workers - it's all in there but perhaps needs to be strengthened.  As to Sarah, her husband is always off making speeches and doing stuff, hence no children and her being alone most of the time - I agree it's a little weird and I'd address that at some point.

I'll tell you something else interesting:  There's a whole thing where the Chinese chanting is.  I wanted a sort of Chinese Opera theater thing there, which I thought would be a neat way of showing the burning of Chinatown and Levi's factory.  And we did it, which is why you hear the chanting.  But we didn't have the costumes for it nor the masks to make it work, and Kay struggled with it and I didn't like it and it confused the audience.  Larry suggested that for the video we make it a montage and we did, but that's something I'd like to revisit because I came up with an intro for it that I think would make it work.

There's still got to be something that makes her willing to marry Han Chow, and I either missed it or it needs to be rethought.  I like this show, and I wish it so much good.

I don't think she does marry him.  I'd have to go back and check the script, but he wants it and she doesn't - while Levi says she should I think it's left unresolved.

Uploading the complete LA Now and Then.  It's irritating on certain levels, which are these: one camera, fixed.  The camera really screws up the great lighting - so know that the blackouts were completely black - the camera gloms onto the musician stand lights and suddenly brightens everything - the light changes were very crisp and dynamic - it's especially harmful to The Black Dahlia number and the disco number - that began with a tight pin spot on his face so that the costume reveal was a surprise, not here.

But it was fun to see it all again.  The Bruce Vilanch sketch (the Uber driver) doesn't work as well as it should because I could not drum into the head of the student actor that he was the set-up guy - his only job in that scene is to set up Robert Yacko's punch lines and he never ever got that - actually, I think he got it once and the whole thing played great.  But he talks too fast and thinks it's about him, which it isn't.

Yesterday, after I left my sister's house, I went to Costco and got their Costco-sized meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  It's in the oven now.  I've never had them, but they look good.  Unless it's all horrible, I'll be having meatloaf and mashed potatoes for days!  Yum (hopefully)!

That's too bad.

Yep, when it comes to videotaping a show, autofocus and autoexposure are not your friends.  :)

BK, in view of the above...

Are there any of the student performances in LEVI that you’re less than satisfied with?

(In my one-shot viewing I sure didn’t detect any such weaknesses.)

I was messaging with a friend when she suggested we FaceTime.  I can't do that, instead we did a video chat through messenger.  Keith came & visited with her for awhile.  We have known her since we were 18 and my apartment was next door to her family apartment.  She was 9 at the time.

Yes, the black fellow who plays the rivets guy - he's in LA Now and Then, too, and in the taped show I have he manages to screw up his intro to Weekday Heroes - amazing, really, since he has about four spoken lines in the entire show.  He's just not really an actor, but a pleasant singing voice.  Another twenty minutes and I'll post the link.

I went to K's Donuts because at this point any treat is a good thing, but I got two smaller donuts rather than my usual chocolate peanut butter, which is HUGE.

The YouTube uploads are so slow - I'm sure the site and people uploading is huge right now for all the obvious reasons.

The processing time is as long as the upload time - that's never the case.  But soon, and once I give the link, then I'll watch something or other, probably other.

There’s nothing like Thomas Hardy for the holidays. Started a two-parter based on The Mayor of Casterbridge. Gloom and agony lie in store. No escaping it.

Funny, Dr. Fauci is now saying the death toll total will be more likely around 60,000.  So all those idiots saying thirty million could die (just do the math, they said) and the dire 100 to 200,000 was, as I have been saying all along, just fear mongering and based on nothing.  I pray he's right.

For the processing, not the jelly donut.  For the jelly donut there are three bites remaining.

We now have 6351 cases in Indiana - 245 deaths - 82 cases in my county.

Our police department issued a statement saying "Several Staff members"  have tested positive.  Glad I'm not doing court hearings right now

95% processed - the counter is no longer visible so why it's not done is anyone's guess.

I don't remember our first tv, except it was black and white and had rabbit ears. They used to make Zenith tvs in Sioux City. I didn't live here then.  We had a big console TV when I was little.   I had a little transistor I would listen to in my bedroom at night.
