I woke up yesterday morning freezing. According to the thermostat the apartment was SIX degrees cooler than what I'd set the thermometer at. I went online to schedule an appointment with a Gas Company serviceperson. It said that they were no longer doing that due to Covid. I tried phoning and got through to someone quickly. He didn't ask the usual questions to determine if it was urgent or not, just asked me if anyone here had symptoms of Covid. No. Someone came out just a couple hours later. He asked the same thing before he'd enter.

He found a small gas leak (!), which he fixed. He said that they are rather common (!). He couldn't replace the thermostat because he hadn't seen it fail, but jiggled it to dislodge any dust or lint that might have built up inside. Last night it was fine.

When I phoned the manager she was unusually cooperative. I have to think that most landlords are worrying that some of their tenants won't be able to pay their rent very soon.

I thought I'd caught up on the posts, but I missed the part about John G's sister. She's positive? Vibes to her and all of John G's family.

Two Messenger video chats in one day.  They were both fun.   The second set of friends also normally use FaceTime on their phones.  We prefer the larger screen on the computer.

The questions make sense.  Did he wear a mask?

That's good.  Fortunately they fixed the gas leak quickly.

I really enjoyed LEVI!, both live and streaming. Yes, Marc Ginsberg is wonderful. It's hard to imagine a better Levi. A fine production overall.

DR JANE I am doing fine.  A bit tired.....but that's to be expected.

Watching THE WIZARD OF OZ.....Dorothy just melted the WWOW.

I really like the underscoring of the soldiers and when we see the balloon for the first time.....lots of nice music and some choral work.

Yes, the questions do make sense, but no, he did not wear a mask. He remarked, "Six feet" when I let him in. I put on my mask to make him more comfortable. I was very glad he could come at all, much less so quickly. This building has zero insulation and I have to run the heat constantly during cold or wet weather. And that was BEFORE I learned about the gas leak!

I called her as soon as I scheduled the gas company. She would have preferred to use her own contractor, but the guy she used to use was an idiot and I didn't want him, plus it would have been several days before he'd get here, whereas I've had good experiences with the gas company. But she has a new contractor now, who installed an expensive thermostat in her apartment, and she offered to have one of those installed in my unit! Because of Covid I'd rahter not have anyone in here who isn't absolutely necessary. So as long as my not-that-old thermostat continues to work, I'm happy. For the gas company to replace the thermostat it's $100, which she'd have to reimburse me for. I don't know what the other thermostat would cost.

That was nice of you to put your mask on.  Maybe he didn't have one to put on.

Saturday evening greetings!  Our Easter preparations included something I never thought we’d have to do:  setting up our dining room as a Zoom broadcast studio for Fr. Richard to celebrate Easter Sunday mass.  I will take a photo tomorrow morning of him at the altar of “Holy Angels Chapel.”

The journalists who are working from their homes ALWAYS have a bookcase of some sort behind them. I imagine your "backdrop" will be a bit different. Good luck with it!
