Well I had an adventure....

The 7 a.m. Kroger visit was okay.....not too crowded, but since I don't know the store, it took me awhile to find what I needed.  Prices seemed to be a bit steep.  Everyone was buying big TP and PT.....but I didn't need those.

The checker was a midget guy with a long beard, which was amusing.

Then at 8:15 I went to Dollar Tree because I needed some foil pans to cook in and some plastic forks & spoons.  I also got some cookies and toothpaste and assorted sundries.

Then - don't tell DR LAURA - I went to Walmart which was NOT crowded at all.  I had to get a couple of frozen pizzas which they did not have at Kroger and some day old pastries which are fine with me.....

Mask and gloves.....most of the WalMart employees were wearing them as well.

I also got a bottle of wine and a bottle of flavored vodka which I sometimes mix with Cranberry Juice when I need it......essential items indeed.

I like Adam's Rib....particularly when Tracy is giving his wife Hepburn a massage and gives her a slap on the backside.

She is incensed....and says she knows the difference between a slap and a slug....

And Tracy replies:  "What have you got back there?  Radar equipment?"

Opera length gloves?

Only with my formal gowns.  I have a drawer full of cotton gloves that I wear with lotion at night when my hands are dry and cracked, so next time I'm out, I'll wear a pair.

I got an email from my British conductor friend.  He and his family live in France, and he wrote this:
The children are doing virtual lessons every day. The new term started yesterday here in France. We have been locked down for another month with no real freedom to move other than a kilometre from our house except to shop. Even then we have to apply online for a pass and have to be back within an hour.  The police are out heavily and checking.

I always loved Hal Linden’s stories about what a giving performer Judy Holliday was. He tried singing Just in Time where the audience could see her, because she was the star, and she manipulated him to where he was facing the audience so they could hear him better.

Tuesday morning greetings!  We've been to Kroger for our curbside pick-up and to Sharon's to drop off the 2 library books she'd loaned to me.  I'm about to check in to practice on Zoom for a state-wide meeting I'm to attend on Saturday.

Back from the Zoom test, which went fine.  We have another one Thursday afternoon and then the big event is Saturday.

DR TCB Freddie's is also closer to us.  Right now it is worth the extra distance to shop at Safeway's senior hours.  We went this morning and it wasn't stressful to shop there.

I just figured out how to pair my Bluetooth cell phone headset with my tablet so that when I'm in the work meeting or rehearsal, my tablet's microphone won't pick up the noise of everyone talking.  Why didn't I think of this earlier??

Great idea.

I got to the bank and took care of business.  I then stopped at Broadway Farms but they wouldn't allow me in because I wasn't wearing gloves!  I had the mask, but no dice.

They didn't have sanitzer wipes?  That is what we used today instead of gloves.

After Safeway we went to Chucks, a local vegetable & other things market.  They still had much of their bulk section open.  They had disposable gloves to use.  I just used clean wipes.

Unpacking and making sure everything is wiped down is a hassle.  Now I am eating quickly, too quickly, so we can go for a walk before the kids call to wish Keith a happy birthday.

I am back from my first foray to -- what's it called again? -- oh, a "store"! -- in three to four weeks. Other than this, I've been to Cat Clinic for curbside pickup and to the bank drive-thru where I have them bring my money out in a wheelbarrow.

So today, it was down to Cat Clinic for more food, then a stop at Home Depot for a couple of bags of water softener salt pellets and some double-thick rawhide work gloves for pulling nasty thorny things out of the ground. These nasty berry growths that don't even produce any berries have taken over, these past couple of years, and this year I'm doing a purge.

Then on to the big stop o' the day, Shop Rite, where I'd intended to pick up maybe 14 or 15 items and came away with twice that many. For the most part, I wasn't there for anything too hard to find, but I did find that a few of my regular items have gone up in price. The most alarming, though, was eggs, which we didn't need today, but get this:  we normally buy the store brand 18-pack for $1.99 or maybe a little more now and then.

That pack today?  $7.99!

This was also my first trip out of the house that required wearing a mask, so I sported a bandana one (with coffee filter) and made the whole trip - driving included - in my bandit mask and gloves. I did feel a little silly wearing the mask in the car, but I didn't want to, um, screw around with it each time I got out to inside somewhere.

The Costco and BJ's price for gasoline has held at $1.65 these past few weeks. It's funny, though, the big electric sign today looked like "-1.65" with a minus sign. I wondered if that's what they were going to pay me for every gallon I pumped.

The paper aisle in the store was not quite empty this time. They had one 12-pack of Bounty PT which I was half tempted to take, but we have quite a few rolls so I left it for the next person, who apparently showed up about a minute later because it was gone when I looked again. There were small quantities of a couple of brands of TP I've never used, but I knew there was no way the prices were going to compare with the big bulk packages we get, and we're still good on that, too, so I walked out of that aisle a living saint.
