Inside was several pads of note paper and 2 dozen pens, very handy.  A lovely note, a nice sized box of Godiva chocolates (!) and two bottles of hand sanitizer!!

What a nice gift.  Which was more exciting the chocolate or hand sanitizer?

I'm not sure!

;D. Shocking I would have said the hand sanitizer.

I mentioned to Bryan if there is a line at Costco to get in he should be able to use his ID and go to the front of the line.  Fortunately he hasn't seen a line yet.

VHS is allowing medical staff and police/fireman/paramedics to shop thereeven if  they do not have a membership

That is nice of them.  What is VHS?

DR Elmore -- I'm guessing you probably know Emily Grishman?

On a pure whim yesterday evening I signed up for a two-hour "webinar" (I'm not actually sure what the format is to be) with her this Saturday afternoon, about the proper formatting of Broadway scores. On the one hand, this makes no sense, because do I really dream of being a music copyist when I grow up? On the other hand:  I have seen her in conversation on the web and wished it had gone on for hours; I have a passion for beautiful scores and would actually like to know more about what goes into them; and it will surely inspire me to dig into Finale better than I have. It's just a treat for myself that I sorely needed.

I know Emily Grishman.  I have worked with her and for her.  Call me when she's dead.

Whoa. Must be a helluva story behind that. :)

Larry, is that one for the memoirs? ;)

I'm trying to watch Two Gentlemen of Verona, a play I haven't read. I tried to watch this DVD before, but I haven't been able to get into it.

I haven't read it yet, but I have on my Kindle, The Most Excellent Comedie and Tragical Romance of Two Gentlemen of Lebowski. ;D

Fifty four years ago, two days after Keith's seventeenth birthday, we became a couple.

Congrats on your 54th Coupleversary, Jane!

DR JohnG, I spent some time today looking up Brecht-Weill on youtube.  There are a couple of complete performances of Mahagonny and Dreigroschenoper you might enjoy.  I also found a complete performance of the BBC broadcast of Jonathan Miller's production of Candide for the Scottish Opera.

I'll have to look for that Scottish Opera Candide on YouTube!  I have the 22-track cast album, and I really like it.

My question for ASK BK DAY:

What is your favorite play/movie with a female ensemble cast (men can be included in the cast).....and what is the funniest murder mystery play you have read or seen?

Funniest murder mystery play - maybe Rupert Holmes' Accomplice or Sleuth has some good laughs, as does Deathtrap.  Favorite movie/play with females - hmmm - obviously The Women would have to be on there, but Steel Magnolias is okay and I enjoy Vanities.

Did you know that there's a musical version of Vanities?

I came home to find a calico cat in the backyard. I had seen her before, but she hasn't let me come near. Today, she was back at the rusty old shed I have. She had a litter of kitties running in and out of the shed. Oy.

Pictures!  We must have pictures!

I've been reading a Harlem Renaissance novel called Romance in Marseille, by Claude MacKay. It's a shocker. Written in the late 1920s, the language is unapologetic about everything. His lesbian characters aren't suffering. His whores don't apologize for the life they lead. The pimps are low lifes, but not in need of psychological study. They're all there in service of the story. About the only thing the novel doesn't have is a genuine romance. And you don't really expect it.

I just recommended this as an Overdrive purchase request.

Ok, I'm going to try to get some sleep.  Lately I haven't gone to bed until 2 or 3 am and still wake up at 7:30 or 8:00.  So I'm going to try to sleep more tonight.   Good night

That's me, but for a long time...it's definitely not a recent development.

No gloves or masks though for sale though.  Everyone , employees and customers were wearing them as well.

I like that people are wearing masks.

It's now a requirement by decree of our Governor  Cuomo.  Stores have signs , "no mask, no entry"

I haven't seen anything like that around here...yet.
