As for the Bernstein thing, Mass is hardly a favorite piece, but a glance at this Ravinia production makes it look highly watchable and listenable.I went crazy over it back in '72 when I first bought the record in Cleveland, and in '73 when I saw that first production by Gordon Davidson at the Mark Taper. At some point in there I bought the vocal score, and I want to say I got it at de Keyser Music on Hollywood Blvd. Either that, or I'd found it at Willis Music in Cleveland or ordered it from Patelson before moving to California. But I'm pretty sure it was in my first Hollywood days. (Yes, I sometimes agonize over questions like that - where did I buy this thing?? - just because.)
