Jrand, that only works when I have the computer to myself while Keith is at the gym.  Otherwise I have very limited time to pop in here, read the postings and respond.  Technically, this is Keith’s computer.  Until recently I never enjoyed using the computer.  Do you mean the refresh button on your computer or on this site?  Bruce mentioned a button but I haven’t a clue as to where it is.

LC, hope you enjoy the new, old job.  Do you have the same position you left or something new?

Jane -- When you go to the Daily Discussion page, next to the title of today's notes, there will be a little blue New.  Click on that and it will take you to the first post after the one you last read.

Lulu, I’m soooo happy you are back.  I missed you.

Craig, you were born on a very special day of the year to me, my oldest son’s birthday.

Hey, folks,

Made it back to my computer for a while.

In case anyone is interested, here is the Web link to the NAMES Project AIDS Quilt Web site. You can look at (and/or search for) panels of people listed in the Quilt.

Bruce, C.C. Brown's Hot Fudge Sundae an excellent choice for dessert island.  I would add House of Pies Coconut Cream Pie, which they top with whipped cream instead of meringue.  Yum!

So far, new parenthood is going smoothly and is very rewarding.  I think DR Kerry posted a picture, or will today!

Okay, what big news am I missing?

I tried the quote box but it come out the way I had expected.  Please don’t explain it to me now.  I need to research “The Sparrow”.  I chose it for my book group and must be prepared to lead the discussion on it.  Has anyone read it?

Please, NO ONE explain the quote box to Jane right now as she's keeping her eye on the sparrow.  I do hope Jane has learned to use the blue "new" button (quite different than the new blue button) as it's ever so much fun.

I'm thinkin' the whole damn thing is psychological.  I just viewed an ornery bull with blood and snot coming out of its nostrils.  Yum.

DR Jane: Hope you do indeed find a copy of "Cloud Street" The writer has been nominated for the UK's "Booker" prize a couple of times and is certainly well liked by critics and public here in Australia. "Cloud Street" was the choice of a critics' survey of best Australian book EVER. It is the great Australalian novel. The book is set in Western Australia where there are No sparrows (there are in the rest of OZ) so it won't help with your research!

Thanks TCB.  There I am searching for the blue new, thinking I couldn’t find it due to my own inabilities.  Guess what, at the moment there isn’t a little new.  Why is that?  It may not sound like it, but I am laughing.

Okay - it's all the fault of the DR at HHW.  I want a Butterscotch Cream Pie now.  :D

On an isalnd with me would be:
CD: Nancy LaMott - My Foolish Heart  (and that was a very tough decision to make).
TV SHOW: The Julie Andrews Hour
MOVIE: this one was tougher than the cd, but, in all honesty, I'd have to go for something in which I could find something *new* with each viewing, so, after considering THE SOUND OF MUSIC, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and THE HAUNTING, I've decided that THE WICKER MAN would be the most remarkable way to start or end the desert island day.
BOOK:  How to Survive on a Desert Island.  Just kidding.
Notre Dame de Paris par Victor Hugo.

Jane:  I don't want to tell you anything that is going to confuse you, but if you don't see the blue "New", it is probably because you have read all the current posts.  Check back after about an hour of not looking at the posts and it should be there.

LOL TCD.  The new button is easy.

I just went back to the discussion which was frozen to the spot where I left off.  Now, where is the button at the bottom of the page to quickly show me the current postings?

Hmmm, now I want pie too.

DR Emily, I like mille feuilles too! I forget if you said you like custard or whipped cream. I of course like them both :)

JRand53, I have never had a butterscotch pie.  It sounds either yummy or gross.  I sure would like to try some now and decide for myself.

Late-breaking news: I feel miserable.  I will not eat lunch.  I will just view tapes.  I will eat some worms.  I will go home and sit on my couch like so much fish.

By the way (BTW, in Internet lingo), I entered the last series of corrections into the book, I've smoothed out the last of the things I wasn't so thrilled with, and after I run those things by my friend and muse Margaret, I shall be done and the book can go off to the publisher.  That is, if Mr. Craig Brockman will get off his ample butt cheeks and do the work he told me he would do (if all goes according to plan, we have a really cool surprise for the book).

Custard pie-now I could really go for that.  No whip cream, no coconut, just old fashioned, English custard pie like my mother made.  Boy, I want that so badly now I could cry.  Instead I will go have some yogurt-at least it’s creamy.

Didn't they have their Grammy Award taken away from them?

Agh!  I never thought I'd say this but I'm getting fed up with free food.  There's an art expo upstairs on the 4th floor...free food.  There's food here leftover in the Math and Writing Center because yesterday we had a party for my boss.  It wouldn't be so bad but it's all Doritos and chips and candy and cookies and junky, bad, evil food that I need to stay away from.

Okay...rant over.

BK--Feel better!  I hope it's only allergies and you're not sick.  I am sending you healthy allergy-free vibes!

WEL--thanks for the exciting Wonderful Town info!  Have you seen the Bway show yet?  I believe it just started previews.

They should have coconut up here.

BK, maybe it is more then allergies. I thought I had allergies last weekend...now I have been home sick for 3 days! Yuch! Drink lots of fluids, that is what I say!

Items for the desert island:

Movie: ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE of course.

CD: THE CARPENTERS: SINGLES

TV series: the entire run of PERRY MASON..always fascinating and many of my favorite performers pop up on it...including Allison Hayes 5 times!!

Book: Well I guess I should take MARY ANN'S GILLIGAN'S ISLAND COOKBOOK so that I could survive on the island!

Jennifer & Emily -- I had a mille feuilles this summer.  Although it was from Loblaws -- it was truly scrumptous!

I'm trekking to the big city of Fresno this weekend to see concerts of Andrea Bocelli & Elton John.  And no, it's not the latest duo -- it's two separate concerts. :D

Late-breaking news: It may well be more than allergies, although what I was suffering from last night was definitely allergy-related - all my usual symptoms.  But today I'm achy and breaky and have the chills.  But, I will not be staying home as I am drowning in footage.

For some reason, mille feuilles (aka Napoleons) taste much better in Montreal.  Ah, another mystery of life!

BK, I wonder if working so hard has been wearing down your immune system!  That's happened to me a couple of times.  Is it possible to take the day off tomorrow?  I'm sure they'd understand!

Andrea--I'm glad they're separate concerts....the idea of Bocelli singing Rocket Man is a little scary (though nothing can approach the sheer existential terror of William Shatner's rendition, hehe!)
