I am enjoying Ingmar Bergman's version of The Magic Flute.

I really like Tamino and Papageno - nice looking fellows who play their parts well.  I am assuming they sang their parts......

The film gave Haken Hagegard, the Papageno, an international career.

I will have to take this out and watch it soon. I saw it only once at a theater - probably at a revival house - and I don't think I've watched it since I've had it on disc.

DR ChasSmith, I still mourn your Poe and send hgs and vibes of comfort.

I wonder if you have any photos of him in his prime you could post?

Here following are a few of the pictures that will go into an album. This first one is of his entry into this house. Click to enlarge.

Kristi got that carrier specifically to go to that house and get him, and he took his leave of us in it yesterday, lying in it with the top removed. It's actually been our favorite of the carriers we have, and we're keeping it.

Awwwww!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I couldn’t get to sleep last night. It was just too hot. So, I read 20 or so pages of Seamus Heaney’s wonderful translation of Antigone, which he called The Burial at Thebes. Still not tired. So, I picked up Lizst’s life of Chopin. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. After 4 pages, I was out for the night.

And when you finish that, you can come to my house. They still haven’t replaced the part that’s supposedly broken on the washing machine.

And don't forget to bring your washboard!

I must needs catch up on some shopping today. For one thing, I finally got off of my ASS and ordered the Vienna Beef-brand condiments for Chicago hot dogs (the sport peppers and the uniquely neon-green relish), and I'll stock up on the rest of the items here. So you just might be hearing later that it's hot dogs tonight.

The other part of that Vienna order was two jars of their Giardiniera (one mild, one hot) for making Chicago-style Italian Beef sandwiches. Yum. I'm making myself hungry. Mustn't shop hungry.

DR George last summer my phone shut down while I was swimming.   The sun had moved and it was no longer in the shade.

That's a cool picture in today's notes. :)

Yes it is.  It was a sad day when POP closed.

The laundry is in the dryers.  My problem today isn't energy, it's my right leg which is not wanting to hold me upright today.

Sorry to read that Annie Ross had died. She had a great vocal talent - despite what her aunt told her.

Listening to Lambert, Hendricks & Ross now. Interesting tidbit from Jon Hendricks’ liner notes. The group originally would have been a quartet with Georgia Brown as the fourth voice, Ross sabotaged that. Her reason: “I wanted to be the only girl!”

Her aunt was Ella Logan from the original Finian’s Rainbow.

Wednesday afternoon greetings!  We're picking up groceries between 1 and 2 this afternoon.  That's our excitement for the day.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and 4 others were arrested yesterday on Federal bribery charges.  I will not be surprised if our representative and neighbor  :P is mixed up in this mess.

I can see why Haken became a star DR ELMORE - he is a lot of fun in The Magic Flute and plays all kinds of emotions.....
