My question for ASK BK DAY:

Would a film like "I Was a Teen-Age Frankenstein" have a sneak preview anywhere - or would the producers just loose it on an unsuspecting world?

Not very often, but sometimes, because I saw Target Earth, super low budget, at a sneak preview.

DR Jane, sorry I didn't get to respond to you re: my library.

It is open by appointment. But I still cannot reserve anything. If the books are at the library I can call and they will put them aside for me.  I'm sure that they are doing their best. And hopefully the 5 book limit on reservations will only be for a short time.  But it sort of sucks that anyone who has suggested books cannot use their account (due to the 5 book reservation limit).

Amidst all the standard repertoire with Walter, suddenly we get the premiere recording of the Samuel Barber first symphony - I have many recordings, this one's unbelievable - the best.

DR Jennifer thanks for the details.  Have you picked up books yet?  I imagine your frustration as recommending books normally puts you at the top of the queue for them.

I'm sorry to hear they didn't make the effort to do original covers on the Toscanini set. The original RCA LM/Shaded Dog releases had plenty of interesting variety. But it seems that starting with the Victrola LP reissues, which were uniform but varied in color and photo, the Old Man has tended to always get uniform sets.

I do envy BK in having acquired all of these amazing sets.  :)

Did you know that Toscanini played cello in the orchestra for the premiere of Verdi's opera Otello?

Cool!

DR ChasSmith, I still mourn your Poe and send hgs and vibes of comfort.

I wonder if you have any photos of him in his prime you could post?

Here following are a few of the pictures that will go into an album. This first one is of his entry into this house. Click to enlarge.

Kristi got that carrier specifically to go to that house and get him, and he took his leave of us in it yesterday, lying in it with the top removed. It's actually been our favorite of the carriers we have, and we're keeping it.

So sweet!

DR George last summer my phone shut down while I was swimming.   The sun had moved and it was no longer in the shade.

It's a safety feature that's more than likely a good thing.

Sorry to read that Annie Ross had died. She had a great vocal talent - despite what her aunt told her.

Oh, no! :( I love Lambert, Hendricks & Ross.

Listening to Lambert, Hendricks & Ross now. Interesting tidbit from Jon Hendricks’ liner notes. The group originally would have been a quartet with Georgia Brown as the fourth voice, Ross sabotaged that. Her reason: “I wanted to be the only girl!”

I didn't know that!

Her aunt was Ella Logan from the original Finian’s Rainbow.

Or that!

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and 4 others were arrested yesterday on Federal bribery charges.  I will not be surprised if our representative and neighbor  :P is mixed up in this mess.

Yes, for the sandwich.  Something clearly went wrong - first the weird text, then one person was supposedly at the restaurant, then that name changed, and finally they cancelled.  Of course, the dough is out of my PayPal account for three days at which time the authorization will fall off.  They did give me a five-dollar credit.  I had Granville mac-and-cheese with chicken instead - very good.
