I read this morning that THE THIN MAN boxed set is to be released in August. Can't wait to get my hands on that. Hopefully, the DVDs will look as good as the first THIN MAN did in its single release. The last one, SONG OF THE THIN MAN, has always had a deeper, darker look than the others, and I am especially anxious to see how that translates to DVD.

DR Jennifer, it hasn't yet been established if Joel Grey is Arvin Sloane (Ron Rifkin)'s brother (possibly twin brother), or if he's his clone (he was certainly made up to be his spitting image). I think this information is yet to come, but if I'm misguided, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Tonight I'll be going to see a production of PROOF. I have not seen the play before in NYC or anywhere else, so I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time.

Consequently, I will be much later logging in tonight than usual.

Thanks, DR Ben, for the review/preview of SWEET CHARITY. I'll look forward to your report on Applegate's performance and comparisons to Ms. D'Amboise.

iPod currently playing the Secret Garden OCR, CD player at home has Michelle Nicastro's "On My Own" album, and the DVD drive has "Camp" in it (I don't know why Amazon.com's recommendations to me are all showtunes...)

Miss Marple.  There was a wire service story in this morning's Oregonian about the new series and it mentioned Hickson's versions several times.  It also said that the BBC was swamped with complaints about this new series because it tweaks the original Christie stories, giving Marple a backstory including an affair with a married man.   And there's evidently a lesbian kiss in an episode that some found unseemly.

That must be in A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED which has an obvious lesbian couple as neighbors to the house where the first two murders are committed.

CD's--  a compilation CD (which must be songs toward the end of the alphabet as "Who Am I?" Who Gave You Permission" and "Who Kulled Teddy Bear?" are all on it.

I love "Who Gave You Permission?"!

During my hour this morning at the Tax Form Desk, I was asked if we were distributing envelopes, too. ::)

Friday at last.  I am going to see ROUNDING THIRD this evening, to see the boys do the Macarena, which I am sure will be the highlight of the show.

You mean you're not preparing the tax forms and electronically filing  them from there? Sheesh!

People have actually asked that, DR vixmom.  They also expect their public library to diagnose medical problems and provide legal assistance.

DR Iris - Thanks for the report on The Audience and the greetings from Mr. McIntyre.  *I'm hoping to see him at the Helen Hayes Awards in a few weeks.

I was hoping to make it up to NYC to see the show since it was directed by my friend, Jack Cummings, III - another Richmonder - who directed the production of Violet I did a couple of years ago.  I also have a few other friends in the cast, Sean McLaughlin (who happens to be Filipino with that last name!), and Shannon Polly, among others.

Nice to hear that there are some notables in the audience for The Audience.

DRs Kerry, DearReaderLaura and Sandra - and other DRs in the Phoenix, AZ, environs...

Have any of you heard anything about the new Arizona Broadway Theatre opening up in Peoria this fall?  I've started seeing casting and employment announcements for this new dinner theatre over the past few weeks.  I'm just curious since it will be in direct competition with Broadway Palm West.  And one of the people who is part of the Board of ABT used to work at Broadway Palm in Ft. Myers, FL.  Hmm...

DR George - I guess I could Google this, but...

Is there any info in the liner notes for Love's Fowl if it is a revised versions of Everything's Ducky - or whatever title it is now known by - another Ugly Duckling adaptation.  I actually like Everything's Ducky better than Honk!.

DR Rodzinski - Is your guest room still available?

;)

-Actually, I received some potentially bad and very disappointing news last night.  It appears the sublet I had lined up this summer in NYC may be no longer due to some "leak".  Apparently, it's bad enough where their landlord is letting them break their lease, so... Now that's bad.  In more ways than one.  But at least it's good to know the landlord is being very understanding about the situation - and about to take care of some apparently major repairs to the place.  We shall see...

And in other news...

It's in the upper 50s here, the skies are clear, the sun is out and there's a light breeze.

Unfortunately, according to the News at Noon the current Mold Count is 2640!  -Which explains the dull headache I've been dealing with the past few days - love those sinuses!  Thankfully, it's not bad, just annoying.  And at least I'm not dealing with the runny nose, itchy eyes and sneezing like I have in the past.

OH... And while flipping channels this morning, I noticed that Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson were on "The View", and they were promoting a new DVD - I think - of something called "The Ultimate Vocal Coach".   Then they did a demonstration of the techniques with each of the ladies on "The View".   Interesting.... very interesting...  Well, not really... But...

What will be interesting will be the people who buy this new method and then will automatically think that they can sing better - a lot better - than they did before.  That they will be "American Idol" quality.   -Like that's something really to strive for.
