Today, I'm only going to go to work for four hours. I'm going to my mom's to mow her lawn and do a few more things as needed around her house. My cousin and his wife are coming up on Wednesday for the funeral service on Saturday, and they'll be staying with her.

I'll need to go to work Wednesday and Thursday because it's the end of the month invoicing and there are a lot of invoices to pay. I just don't know what'll be happening on Friday.

I had quite a curious night of sleep. In some ways it was downright weird. There were lots of dreams, none of which I remember, and I slept in short spans, woke, turned over, slept for a bit, woke up, turned over, etc. Sandy Wilson's song "All the Girls Were Pretty (And All the Men Were Strong)" from Valmouth kept running through my head.

Speaking of Valmouth, I need to fig out my copy of five novels by Firbank and reread the actual novel. I've been reading the libretto and remaining amazed that such a covertly gay musical was performed in the 1950s. It literally transferred from what was a London off-Broadway house to a major West End Theatre, the Savile, with fantastic designs by my and BK's close personal friend Tony Walton.

I have to go into my storage nook and clean up the area. Annabelle's bookcase climbing knocked several books into it, and I need to go, clean it out and vacuum it.

I didn’t get an email, but the deposit for the three is in my bank account this morning, along with the standard DOL one.

If that 1976 HBO show is the one I’m remembering, I was at a friend’s apartment to watch it that evening and it was quite the big deal. In those earlier days of cable, there were plenty of us who didn’t have it yet depending on where we lived, and it was an EVENT to gather and see those specials. Sometimes I miss those days.

The other HBO production I wish were on DVD is their Greater Tuna.

I have a great fondness for Frantic. If my memory serves me correctly, I saw it at the El Rey, so perhaps not its first run (?). But I loved it then, and I loved reconnecting with it in later years..

I’ve been threatening for the longest time to show it to Kristi and Nathan who have somehow never seen it in spite of being Harrison Ford and Roman Polanski fans in general. Not to mention... Betty Buckley!

It was also important to get the right Blu-ray. It was originally issued with the subtitles and spoken languages screwed up in at least one scene (as far as the US release is concerned), and it only got corrected when word finally got to Polanski about it. I don’t remember it off the top of my head, but there’s a way to identify the corrected disc.

That feeling about Klemperer’s recordings was prevalent back when I was in school. It’s been great in later years to shed those prejudices and listen to various musicians’ output with good transfers and fresh ears.
