Must eat something but have no idea what other than I don't really want to spend money today.  That said, I don't have much here - could do tuna, I guess, or a frozen pizza, but I just had pizza yesterday.

I hadn't heard that term in years, DR Jrand70.

DAVENPORT

It's what I grew up saying. I just looked it up, and it figured largely in the Midwest so that makes total sense. For us, that thing in the living room was always a "davenport", and I think "couch" was the informal word for it. I didn't much hear the word "sofa", or at least begin using it myself, till much later.

So what do I (we) use nowadays? "Couch", mostly, whether or not we're sitting on one like so much fish. When we don't say "couch", it's "sofa". (As opposed to "sofa so far so" as they might say in Trouble in Tahiti. Ratty boo, and all that. If you catch my drift.)

Is that what "davenport" meant?  I never knew!  For some reason, I thought it was a back porch, like a lanai.  I learned that word from The Golden Girls. ;)

I sold a rare set of Mizoguchi films - I've tried to enjoy them, but I don't - Amazon third-party dealers are trying to get six hundred bucks for it, which I really hate, so I underpriced them by two hundred-fifty bucks and it sold in ten minutes.  The guy got it and wrote me the loveliest note, thanking me for making it so much less and saying he never thought he'd be able to afford it.

That's pretty cool, BK!

I voted. It took about an hour. The line moved quickly and I got 40 pages or so in my book.

Considering, an hour is much better than expected.  I have been thinking about you and waiting for your report.  No chair needed :)

I need to go to Trader Joe's and don't want to wait in the line, but then voting is much more important than my artichoke hearts.

Yesterday's outrage, in case you haven't heard, is that the GOP placed numerous ballot drop-off boxes around the city. They look just like the official ones, but they're FAKE. One can only speculate as to what would happen with those ballots.

Honest to God, stuff like this NEVER used to happen! It's one thing to have differences of opinion on free trade or immigration or other things, but THIS??!!

I'm ready to move to another planet. Venus looks pretty...

WTF is going on with the GOP anymore?? >:(

First, Conchata Ferrell, now Herbert Kretzmer Dies: ‘Les Miserables’ Lyricist Was 95.  95 is a hell of a run, though.

Made the frozen pizza  - the entire pizza is 1500 calories.  I ate a little over half, so I'm fine.  Didn't feel like making tuna.  And so I didn't.

DR Jane - love the idea of dried cherries. I'll have to try that. Dried blueberries would be good, too, I would think.

I wonder how freeze-dried strawberries might be. Would they reconstitute in the hot cereal?

It is a gloomy fall day here.  It feels sad that when we started quaranteening, back in March, it was wintry white outside, and we'll soon be back to that.

I forgot to mention to DR CHAS SMITH that I enjoyed his drift as well.

I have a friend named Randy Daven Port - which I spelled that way so he won't do a Google search and wonder what his name is doing here.

Years and years and YEARS ago - when Miss Conchata Ferrell was doing HOT L BALTIMORE on ABC, she was guest on the daytime version of The $10,000 Pyramid.

Mr Dick Clark was doing his smarmy all celebrities are friends schtick with her calling her Chatty as if they had been friends for years......at the end of the show one day when they didn't have time to start another game.....she mentioned that she had tried to get on the show as a contestant a few years before but that because she was in the union.....I don't know if she meant SAG or EQUITY or what.....she couldn't be a contestant on the show.

Dick Clark didn't even acknowledge her story, just nodded because time was up and did his salute and left.....but his familiarity with her was so put on and fake....as was his pretending come up with clues AFTER the big money round....."You could have said this.....or that....."   None of the clues he had thought of himself obviously.

Costco used to have both. Now I can only find the cherries there.

I set another performer for the November show - new to Kritzerland.  She's kind of an Internet personality - very popular on Tik-Tok and she's very funny and sings very well.  I found her on Facebook and asked her to do the show.

I haven't heard the word "davenport" for many years.  My other always used it, but I don't remember anyone else who did.

Great act, keeping track of all of those parts.
She just needs a better accompaniment track!

Someone commented that she should do "Rock Island" from The Music Man.
Yes, please.
