I am receiving a desk tomorrow - so furniture will have to be moved in anticipation.

I messaged this afternoon to MAKE SURE.....and was assured it would happen.

Good luck with that, sir.

Beginning tap classes on zoom are starting up soon. I need to find my shoes. I know they're in the trunk of the car somewhere. At least, I think they are. $15 a class or $68 for six weeks.

Those damned upgrades once again destroyed my Mac, so I lost over two hours while it upgraded and froze, another 30 minutes dealing with one AppleCare person followed by 30 minutes watching the computer do nothing before I called AppleCare back, and another hour and a half while we rebuilt the desktop from the hard drive.  I lost nothing on the computer, thank God. just a lot of patience and wasted time.

I had to upgrade my work laptop this week. It took 3 hours. And right after it finished, I got messages saying i need to upgrade some programs. It was a lost day.

The good thing about all the work computers and laptops here is that the IT department controls ALL of the upgrading.  We're not allowed (anymore) to add any kind of program.  If it's something that we feel we need for our job, then the IT people are the ones who have to log in with their system passwords and install it...if it's approved.  We have to request programs, and then it has to be evaluated to determine if it's appropriate, then IT can install the program.

IT have also set up regular updates that go out automatically to all the computers so that they don't have to go to every computer one at a time.  Our district is 28 branches and the service area is over 6000 square miles!  Imagine having to drive to EVERY branch and one at a time update EVERY computer! :P

We just had a power outage that lasted for about five minutes. Now I get to reset my old-fashioned clock radio and the oven and microwave clocks.

Who do they think I am, anyway? BK?

About to have an e-cocktail hour with my family back East.

I have only the free Zoom account, so we're limited to 40-minute reunions.

Do you all have drinks while you chat?

The tally of new COVID cases has topped 60,000 today. Ugh.

Sigh.

I spent the day doing lots of catch-up on lots of things. Things pile up so quickly! You try to take care of something, but it doesn't go as you expect, so you put it aside to do later because you're out of time (or patience or energy) today. Then it sits. I imagine everyone has had this experience. I don't think I even made a dent in it.

Larry, I sympathize with your Mac update issues. I was trying to do one today, but the computer just couldn't do it. I need a new hard drive, which was probably the problem. Even though Macs are much easier than PCs, I don't feel enough instruction is given. At least we have AppleCare, but that sometimes has its problems.

Yesterday I sent the first 50 pages of the book to an agent who has handled other cat books.  I hope she "gets" it.

I really hope this works out for you.

Tap dancing is exhausting, but I love it.

Agreed, and I do, too.

I'm used to having a professional system administrator take care of things and it's a job I never wanted. It's great you have an IT team. I miss having that sort of support.

I took dance lessons many times at a number of different places -- ballet, jazz, and tap. I studied at a studio on La Cienega, west side of the street, in high school, but I can't recall the name of the studio. It was named after someone, but I don't think it was Roland Dupree. I vaguely recall BK and I talking about this once and I don't think it was anyone he knew.

When I was young I took ballet with Nico Charisse.  Occasionally his wife came in and taught our class.  It wasn't until I was much older that I found out that wife was Cyd Charisse.

Just when I had been promoted to the next level, toe shoes, I dropped out for something better.  My family, well not my brother who didn't care, tried to talk me out of my decision.  I just knew there was something better for me, and there was.  I began ice skating and loved it.

I then decided I wanted to be an ice skater and was sad when I couldn't get to the skating rink anymore.

Just had a very unpleasant PM volley with a bitchy old queen, the worst ever and let me tell you tomorrow's notes will have the whole sordid tale.  I saved it all.  I could ruin this jerk if I felt like it.
