Well, you've read the notes, you've read them lustily, you are feeling lusty, hence it is time to post until the lusty cows come home.

I cannot believe this end of month WUSSBURGERING.  Most unseemly.

I have caught the wussburgeritis bug myself. Well maybe it is a sinus infection, but I am battling the sinus infection while trying to finish up projects and study for finals. Add on top of that the past week I have had 3 hour rehearsals Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri, and a concert yesterday and another one today at 3 with Don Neuen. I tell you I have no free time! I have been resting my voice quite a bit and drinking lots of water. After tomorrow's concert, things should calm down a bit.

I have a bit of good news/bad news. On my free evening Wednesday I went down to Brown County (A very hilly wooded part of south-central Indiana) for a job interview at a summer camp. I got an email Friday telling me I got the job and I am really excited about working there because it seems to be the perfect fit for me. The bad news is I will have very limited internet access so most correspondence this summer will have to be via email unless I spend a couple of weekends at home. One last bit of good news is you will have me more regularly after next week until the 28th when I go down for pre-camp training.

Well, perhaps I shall toddle off to the bedroom environment to get my beauty sleep.  Here's a topic to get us started - favorite guy groups.

Oh the Animals with Eric Burden was one of MY favorite groups, DRTOMovOZ!

DRJOEY congratulations on your summer employment.  Brown County in summer will be lovely!

70 years ago this week, Miss Frances Farmer was in Russia as the US representative of The Voice of Action newspaper, viewing the May Day festivities and more or less letting them know what she thought of the whole enterprise, which wasn't much.

BK: Who, besides, Kevin S is singing back up on Guy's cd? Also is Kevin S's show called Mid-Night and Days performing in June the one you are directing?

Hmmmmmmm.....the Brothers Four and the Chad Mitchell Trio are great folk favorites of mine.

And although they don't technically apply as a group, I will add The Everly Brothers.

We had an old album of theirs called Two Sides or something like that....and the Warner Bros. early Stereo was Great!!!  They sang some great old songs, and I loved to hear them sing "My Grandfather's Clock."

I am in complete agreement with MRBK on Otto Preminger's choices of composers.  I certainly second ADVISE & CONSENT and BONJOUR TRISTESSE, and I will add ANATOMY OF A MURDER with some great Duke Ellington interpolations.

I have the PANIC IN THE YEAR ZERO dvd also, but have not watched it yet....I love, love, love (that is 3 loves) that movie! The music is wonderful and the story is intriguing. And don't forget the lovely Ms. Joan Freeman is in it also! And ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE co-star, Scott Peters, has a small role at the end of the film as an army man.

Must get going on my day...pulling weeds and mowing the back yard...trip to Loewe's to find a new screen door (and a man to install it)...go to the gym...and finish watching THE GENIE LADY on DVD.

No Bollywood movies this weekend...I wonder if I will have any withdrawal symptoms?

As I said yesterday, I love ADVISE AND CONSENT and BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK and am thrilled that the transfers live up to the greatness of the films. I can't wait to get my hands on them.

Poor Charles Laughton. By the time A&C opened, he was in serious decline health-wise, and as he passed into and out of consciousness, he had it in his head that he had been nominated for an Oscar for the film. Amazing that none of the high powered cast garnered Oscar nominations for this film.

We have a seriously gorgeous day brewing here. Cloudless blue sky, temps in the high60s/low 70s, a little breeze.

And I'll probably spend the day inside doing laundry, reading, and watching DVDs.

Good morning & happy May!  We'll be leaving soon to pick up my mother to go see The Producers in Dayton.  This is Mom's Christmas present from us.  My sister and her family sent Mom money to take us out for dinner afterward, so we're going to Caffe Anticoli, a Dayton favorite for more than 70 years.

DR Joey - congratulations on the summer job in Brown County!

Here's some info about the theatre where we're going this afternoon:

www.schustercenter.org

This will be the first Broadway show I've seen there.  Last spring, DH Richard and I attended a Dayton Philharmonic Casual Connections concert and I've been to a couple of meeting-type events there.  I'll try to post some photos later.

Thanks, JRand!  I don't think a gracious member of the orchestra will be meeting us in the lobby with "party favors" beforehand, as did DR Jose last month at Mamma Mia.  Wonder how his moving day is going?

I'm up, I'm up.  I kept having the weirdest dreams - I'd wake up, then have a variation on the same dream - this happened five times.  My throat is very dry this morning - don't know why, but I'll have some EmergenC shortly and hopefully that will moisten things up.

Nine-twenty and nobody here but us chickens.  Someone 'splain it to me.

Yes, Night and Days is the title of the show I'm helping Kevin with.
