(Maybe the answer is always: DR George.)

I invariably find this to be the case.

DR George, I think Mr Russell's artwork is very good for what he's illustrating, but like the artwork recommended by two other friends, he's not the illustrator for my cat tales.

That totally makes sense. :)

Tuesday was Jonathan Tunick's birthday, so I sent him an email. I received a nice reply containing two pieces of music he's been composing during his pandemic sabbatical in Connecticut. One is a choral piece for chorus, piano, and cello solo; the other is a song setting of a poem by Sara Teasdale.

That's so cool!

Has anyone here ever sampled one of Mr. Yap's  d i g i m i x  remasterings?  Do they really sound any different?

No. Life is too short. If I already have one of his recordings, there's no way I'm falling for this new this new con.

How is his La Mancha? I've never heard it.

I spent $1 on it. Haven’t listened to it yet.

I received three packages from Chewy.com via Fed Ex today. One weighed about 3 lbs., one weighted 6 lbs., and one weighed 40 lbs.  The jerk Fed Ex delivery person didn't bring them into the building where other packages are left. He left them in the vestibule, just the front door, where things can be easily stolen so he didn't have to deal with five steps to the lobby. So, I had to painfully get down the steps, and open the inside door to the vestibule and crawl on the floor to separate my packages from the others he dumped there. Then, to add insult insult to injury, my neighbor Mark who was going out, held the door for me and watched me wrestle with the packages, drag myself to my feet, and didn't do one damned thing to help me with the stairs.

The 40 lb. carton sits at the bottom of the stairs now, and I have filed a complaint with Fed Ex.

I've gotten a couple.  I haven't listened to my original CDs in years (they're in boxes somewhere in my house and/or garage) but the new discs did sound good.  You probably don't need to get any unless you never got the original releases or are REALLY picky about the sound of recordings.  I'm not that picky. ::)

The Washington Center has scheduled five different performing activities next month (the first one since last year was just last week...and I didn't get selected to usher :P ), and I've signed up to volunteer.  Hopefully, I'll get selected for something.

I "ass"umed that's what y'all were referring to, since I got the email about it this morning.

Has he ever clearly stated what is meant by "digimix"? I looked for a definition once and I don't believe I found anything satisfactory.

According to Jay's website:
Quote
After years of working on finding a way to Digitally ReMix two tracks Master recordings, JAY and its team of Engineers have pioneered a system to successfully Digitally ReMix from existing two track Master Recordings.  This is completely different from the process of just transferring the two track Master Recordings Digitally on to CDs or Downloads.   We at JAY are actually ReMixing the voices and the orchestra of those two track Master recordings using our exciting and exclusive DigiMIX system.

It's essentially their own proprietary way of remixing their recordings.

Got a question:

I'm sorting through some CDs and I have this BK one called Rare Tracks that DR George was kind enough to make for me. What I don't remember is which book it went with. I got here after all of these had come and gone, so that's the only one I have.

If I recall the conversation correctly when BK was looking for this one, there had been a few others as well. Which books had them, and who's got them now? (Maybe the answer is always: DR George.)  :)   Because I'd love to get the rest sometime.

Actually...would you like MP3 files or WAV files? :)

Oh what a nice guy, that neighbor Mark. I don't suppose he's the one who complains about boxes in the hallway?

Rare Tracks came with There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You, if I recall correctly. The three Kritzer books all had CDs and so did Writer's Block. That's it, I think.

And they're all in DR George's zip files, above. Great collection. Thank you both.
