I have no interest in Schmigadoon - for those who own my short story compendium, just read Opening Out of Town. Same basic premise, although a completely different reason for it, which is a lot better than what these people have done. Yes, I had this idea over thirty years ago - written as a spec script for Amazing Stories, which went off the air before it was even read, then we thought about doing it as a short film, and then I just adapted it as a short story.

So, big news:

I told DR Elmore last week that this just might happen.

The Fantasticks is cancelled. At least for this season. We couldn't completely cast it with those who turned out to audition, and there were some unresolvable date conflicts among too many people.

We'd already moved our deadline a couple of times, and had to call time of death on this one. We should already have been in at least vocal rehearsals by now, and I am frankly relieved. We were teetering on the brink of disaster.

Everyone involved still wants to see this come about, maybe even next year. But the audition turnout in the region has been horrible for a few years now, and not just for musicals. The new prevailing attitude, from the theater board to the director and yrs truly, is rapidly becoming:  F**k it -- from now on, we're pre-casting everything.

Darn.  That's too bad.  I love that show.

George, Washington wasn't mentioned at all.

Hmm...I don't know where Larry (my sister's boyfriend) got his information. :-\

Well for our 2022 season - The Odd Couple is out and The Miracle Worker is in......

I kept saying who is going to direct it?  [We had an atrocious production a decade or so ago that had water ALL OVER THE STAGE and the theatre floor because the dumb bell wanted the audience to "feel & experience" the moment as Helen does.....

That no one seems to want to direct it doesn't seem to bother anyone......and of course that's how we ended up with Pillow Talk - The Experiment.....

I think Olympia Little Theatre does it the same way (or maybe used to)...they'd pick their season, and then ask for directors.  Weird way to do it, if you ask me.

BK called me last night to remind me, i think, of my posting duties as a HHW member. We threw the togas aside long ago (remember those?), but posts are still expected. I have definitely lapsed in my post-reading, so forgive me for not being up to date.

What I do know is that Jane and Keith's car was damaged by an irresponsible parker when they were starting a road trip. What a bummer! Gawd! Vibes for a satisfactory repair if that has not been accomplished.

I was very impressed with Vixmom's lease-review-and-move-in service. Maybe there's a business opportunity there -- at least the lease review part.

Larry, I am envious! You got rid of so many cartons! I need to get rid of more here, but it takes a long time to go through it all. I don't look forward to it.

I put my car in the shop yesterday. It was sluggish and I was imagining $$$. I lucked out. The mechanic checked everything out and all he found was a dirty air filter, which he said could have caused it. It's definitely better now. But my two Uber rides cost almost as much as the repair. $27 to travel just a few miles? ($40 total.) I didn't want to wait in the shop for several hours. It's still a good deal overall.

We did get the estimate on the repairs.  Hopefully the insurance company will quickly approve it.

Yes, still a good deal and better than sitting and waiting.

Uber has become a sad joke. It was a noble thing when it began and very cost friendly. Now it's just stupid.
