In my DVD player: a couple of movies from Netflix. One is one of the Cirque du Soleil DVDs (I had all of them in my queue, so I don't remember which one) and some other foreign movie that I just got yesterday. I have a third movie, "Latter Days" somewhere in my house, but I can't find it!

I hope I don't have to pay for it. It has to be somewhere here. I know I didn't return it or lend it to anyone. So, I just have to look for it.

In my VCR: a tape to tape the second season premiere of "The 4400" for my sister. I bought a used copy of the first season DVD (all of six hours) but haven't watched it yet. My sister started watching the show but missed one episode (she was very happy to borrow my DVD). When there are only six episodes, you can miss a lot in one episode.

In my CD player at work: a bunch of radio interviews of members of The Manhattan Transfer that I was sent. I'm putting together booklets for them, so I have to listen to the entire set of CDs (I forget how many there are, but it's a lot)! But I love The Manhattan Transfer, so I don't mind too much.

Good morning, all! The heat is ridiculous, and I am quite disgruntled over it. I prefer rain, snow, sleet, hail, and any temperature below 70 degrees F. I've never understood the mania to run about a beach risking skin cancer and skin the texture of a work shoe, so I'm disgruntled.

CD: right now it's Victor Herbert, yesterday it was Offenbach, but I have no idea what's waiting at the recording office, which is where I will be most of the day.

Thank you DR Matt. I knew it was some such name.

Does anyone remember the story about the bucking horse? I can’t remember the name of the horse or the book but I remember that when he died (made me cry) he was undefeated in the ring and the riders put a monument up to him.

“If theres a horse in Heaven, Lord, please rest his soul.” was part of the inscription, I think.

I have to drive into work today so I’m not in quite the rush but I really do need to get on the road. There is a lot of rain out there, courtesy of Arlene, and I want to have plenty of time for the ride in. I confess that now that I have Bonnie, I’m not as nervous about it as I used to be.

I still can’t believe I have such a nice vehicle. I walk up to her in the parking lots and think, “Is this really MINE?”

I will be having guest this weekend and I want to show off my 6.1 system and only have one movie mixed to that spec. The new edtion of the animee Ghost In The Shell. Does anyone know any other film on dvd that is mixed in 6.1?

TOD:

CD stuff, no plans to watch a movie in the DVD or VCR, although if the heat breaks I will ride the exercise bike and watch more Sopranos episodes. I haven't ridden for a few days because there is no air conditioning in the living room and I don't want to risk heat stroke.

I got the new John Fricke compilation called That Old Feeling: Classic Ballads from the Judy Garland Show. As with all Fricke work, it's well done and looks nice. I will listen to that today. I also brought to work the following (I don't know if I will listen to them all but just in case):

OCRs She Loves Me, 1776 (the original, not the Roundabout recording), Romance Romance (I really like this score), No, No, Nanette and Nine (the complete 2 CD recording w/Raul Julia).

That's it for CD/DVD/VCR. No theatre or movie or television plans this weekend.

Anthony is doing fine in Virginia. He's deep into rehearsal. They begin previews on Wednesday, June 15th and open Friday, June 17th. Having done Hysterium twice before he's familiar with the show and is having an easier time of being off book, and all that other stuff. They are being fairly tight about remembering exact lines when it comes to a cue and while they can ham it up a bit (it is Forum, after all), extreme late run Zero Mostel or Danny Kaye antics are not encouraged. I will be seeing the show over the 4th of July weekend (Friday, July 1st through Monday, July 4th) and I'll report.

And now, an announcement. As Mr. Oz mentioned late in the notes yesterday, today, June 10th is Miss Garland's birthday, but it is also Mr. Anthony Morelli's birthday. So all together, Happy Birthday Anthony! It's also another cast member's birthday today so tomorrow the cast will be celebrating. I sent two packages for Ant, one a box of goodies to help him get through this "difficult" time (he doesn't like to acknowledge the aging process that comes with birthdays). The second package (I told him not to open it until today) contains two CDs. One is a compilation of Mae West on the radio (Ant is a big Mae West fan) and the other is a compilation of Jeanette McDonald (he's also a big fan of her, in fact most of the people he likes are dead and gone).

I am doing well with Anthony gone. Although it is strange to come back to an empty apartment, I'm happy he's working and enjoying himself. It's only six weeks and I'll be seeing him in another three weeks anyway.

Whew, I thought I might have lost that last post. It finally came up as "Page cannot be displayed. As it was sitting there (like so much fish) I copied it just in case it was lost. But luck is with me today. It went through. Hooray.

Jose, are you coming up to NYC this weekend? I seem to remember you mentioning that possibility. If so, we (Larry, Tom/Rodzinski, etc) should try to get together.

Of course there was the lady who fell up the steps last night and gashed her knee. I suggested we offer her tickets for the three remaining shows since she has another leg and two arms to go. We could have her in a body cast by September!

VCR: JULIE with Miss Doris Day, again.

CD: Doris Day, the 1960's Singles, many different classical CD's as I am making the "soundtrack" for the play I am directing. I have settled on a few DARK SHADOWS tv tracks, one Patsy Cline, the pas de deux from SWAN LAKE, Pachobel's KANON, Jump by the Pointer Sisters, Minstrel of the Night by Gordon Lightfoot, O Fortuna, AND......Un Bel Di. Something for everyone - and his dog.
