This morning, thanks to Bryn Terfel's recording "Simple Gifts," I discovered a British composer whose work reminds me of John Rutter. His most popular pieces are "Benedictus" from his mass for peace, The Armed Men, and "Ave Verum Corpus" from his Stabat Mater.

Last night I attended a very intricately staged and highly amusing production of Peter and the Starcatcher. It was my first time to see the play. It was certainly entertaining, and it was good to see two friends in it who specialize in this kind of wacky, almost-improvisational comedy. I knew very little about it going in, and was interested to find that it plays (or at least this one played) much like a British panto.
