Then I decided to change from my dress and lay in the bed “for a minute”

Three hours later I was groggily putting on my jeans and Tshirt

John would not approve, but Vixdad likes beans so there were a can each of black, white and red along with 2.5 lbs of ground beef

Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story was good, but it was no Summer of Soul.

Watched 20 minutes or so of Jean-Luc Godard’s Weekend. Was definitely not in the mood.

It has been a long, long time since I have seen this.  I don't remember much about it.

It seems to me you did a lot in-between naps.  You are just used to doing more.

Back from the closing performance of 13. Nothing has changed in my opinion since I saw the last production of it that friend Barry directed. I dislike the show hugely, mostly because the boy we're supposed to care about in the show, treats his one and only friend like crap and continues to do so through most of the show. Yes, he comes around at the end but, for me, too little too late. It's all about wanting to be part of the cool kids. I truly believe that's why the show was a huge flop on B'way. But all the show's really about is wanting to get "tongue" and more - at thirteen. THAT is also a huge problem, when that's one of the main focuses. The songs all sound the same, basically. I assume the original production at the Taper here in LA had great kids and a great band of young people. Here we had the geriatric band - they were fine, but much more fun if it's great young folks. The choreography was better than the first production he did.

Some of the kids were fun, but no matter how much you want to disguise it in publicity and postings, community theater is community theater, no matter how slickly done, in the sense that in the end you can only use the kids who audition.

I'm not thinking Buck and the Preacher is any kind of forgotten masterpiece. The script veers all over the place. But it's never less than interesting. And the performances are fun.

Harry Belafonte's naked backside looks a lot whiter than his shoulders do in the very next scene. I wonder if they used a stunt double.

I do like Benny Carter's twangy score.
