What shall I do with today?

I have discovered a mission:  I am trying to subscribe to a health care plan for the new year.

Since retirement, I have been covered only for prescriptions.

As a military retiree, I have VA medical coverage. My VA doctor is in Aiken SC (25 miles away) and a VA hospital is in Augusta GA (27 miles away).

My United Health Care prescription coverage was taken out at retirement to cover initial costs I might incur before hooking up with local VA.  For five years, it has been mostly a waste, but my medical benefit from County of Alameda has covered the cost.  The County retirement plan affords me a generous allowance for medical coverage, and I have stupidly not been using it.  I only get reimbursed for what gets used, so I need to maximize usage.

I want to be able to go to non-VA hospitals.  I have been very impressed with my local VA care, but I would rather not be hospitalized there.  I want coverage that will pay for ambulance service to a hospital.  Right now, all would be out of pocket.

That is my goal.  We are in the enrollment period right now.  My provider says I can enroll online in about 15 minutes, or I can call and take an hour or more.

I have been online for nearly two hours and still cannot make heads or tails of what I see, so I am now waiting for someone to call me to explain what it is I am looking at.

Such is life in very rural South Carolina.

I didn't know there was a musical version of Giant.  I think the book will make for a good discussion.

I hope I can vote today.

I feel very lucky that Washington is a total mail-in-ballot state.  There can't be any voter intimidation because anyone can mail their ballot at anytime and who'd know??

Some restaurants serve it with sweet syrups to apply as you desire.

I gave my waiter a very dirty look and told him to remove them at once.

Ladies and germs, the bit of photographic evidence I was waiting on -- the CARRIE band.

We just managed to cram the 7-player off-Broadway scoring (less the acoustic bass preferred on one number) into the approx. 8'x16' space formerly known as the Stage Left wings. Or, um... wing. But it worked, damn it. (Click to enbiggen.)

Nice.

TV news seems to be obsessing over mid-terms.  I thought we had earned some relief after the 2020 election cycle, but they have gone above and beyond.

The political ads are sickening.

The analyses of whether all will be lost to the democrats or whether the republicans will have their butts handed to them on a platter is dismally disgusting.

I HATE POLITICS!!!

I keep reading it is that all will be lost and it is depressing.

I had intended to vote as soon as the ballots arrived but we are not feeling up to it at the moment.  There is time.

Looking at his side effects from Paxlovid I am not sure I should take it with my issues.  I would pick up the script and decide later.

We have windows open for fresh air.  He has his office and the guest bedroom and bathroom.  We are wearing masks when going near each other.  I wish I had begun wearing a mask when we only thought he had a cold.

Dip me and fry me!!!

After FOUR HOURS on the phone trying to make sense of the medical options offered me, the licensed advisor I was talking with asked me what more I needed than what I am already covered for.

I told her I was only covered for prescriptions.

She said, NO, I am also covered for AARP Plan F.

What, I asked, is that?

She asked if I didn't have a card for Plan F.  I told her no.

She then told me Plan F covers every single thing I was looking for and pays 100%.  And, she said I've been covered since September 2017!!!

Who KNEW????  I didn't!

She connected me with AARP and requested they send me a card and details on what Plan F covers.

And that, as they say, is THAT!
