We ate and chatted, then chatted and ate, then everyone went home.  We didn't play cards or any game, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

I wasn't the only one who ate the meatballs, but I did bring home all that were leftover...and the (cow's) milk that my sister and niece no longer drink.
