DR Ron did any of your old Christmas posts complain about it being this cold?

Not at all.  This is surprising to me because one year the temperature never went about 20.  Looking back, it was a Christmas when I didn't post much because I was sick most of the time. 

Being sick was likely less fun than the cold temps.  It does show then that these temps are not unusual which I find interesting.

These are the coldest temps we have had at Christmas in 20 years or so.

Speaking of "gas"...I have gas fireplace logs.

They haven't been fired up by me in the past five years, but my mom used them during wintry power outages.

I know I can stay warm if my power goes out.

No.  A friend has suggested I call for a professional come and check them out and clean them.

I can check them to see if they light.  As long as I can turn the gas on and off, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.  If they don't light, then I'll call a pro.
