DR TPunk.  I know he has made good use of his second hand rusty tin box.

Today's listening:  Tom Glazer's "On Top Of Spaghetti".

It rolled on the table, and onto the floor, and then my poor meatball rolled right out the door.

Gosh, I loved that as a youngster. The funny thing is, I didn't even know then that it was a song satire.

The Cat Report:
They have stared at each other through the gate. So that's good. They know who each other are. But Walty still hisses when he approaches the gate, and The Bot yowls a bit and would fight if let in the room, it's clear. They are not a mutual admiration society yet.

Hi all!    Sorry have been E & T but we had company this weekend.  Maybe you heard about him?  His name was Dennis.

He left quite a mess with little branches/twigs/leaves in the yard but didn’t do any serious damage.  Just a “party and go” kinda guy.  He did keep me up quite late there for a night or two so I am still a bit tired.

I hope everyone else came through the weekend as well as we did.

Thank you, DR Jane for posting for me.   :)

My Chitty tickets arrived today.  I only waited a day or two to order them and dang if I didn’t get pushed back to section B.  I think it will be ok.   At least I hope so.

I loved those "kiddie"songs

Fare thee well
Fare thee well
Fare thee well my darlin' hair
I want a good shampoo with some icky, sticky goo
While sittin' in the barber chair!

My daddy don't need a haircut at all
While sittin' in the barber chair
Because he's as bald as a billard ball
And his hair just isn't there!

I can't remember the rest of the song.

Good to see you've parted ways with Dennis DR Danise.  He was just a "blow in" anyway.

I’m watching the Men’s Skating World Championship.  I think now that I’ve skated, I have a greater appreciation for what they do.

Thank you, TPunk!

Just relaxing before being on my way to tonight's reading.

I just put a bunch of Jerry Goldsmith tracks in my iPod, including the glorious original tracks (as opposed to the dreadful rerecording) of Islands in the Stream - and no, Virginia, no one has these tracks but me.  There was an LP boot of dubious and horrid sound, and a bootleg CD was made from that, but it sucks.  Mine is right off the master tapes.  I tried to license the score for Varese a few years after the film's release, but it was too pricey.  But, while I had the tapes I made a gorgeous 15ips copy for myself.  I brought them to the studio one day when recording something a few years ago and transferred them to both CDR and DAT.

So you and DP Colin are thinking of a trip to the States next year, DR TomovOz!  How exciting!  I think a train ride across country would be tiring but very fun.  I can't think of better way to see the country.

If I had the time, I would ride the train or bus up to NYC.  I miss the car trips we used to take when my dad was alive.  Geting there was half the fun.

How is DR OzDerick?

Hi, Danise!  It's good to see you.  They say that Dennis guy is on his way here, but reduced to all gloom and rain.  I'll do my best to ignore him.

You asked the other night if I'd made plans for the Monday evening in NYC.  Nothing definite, but I do have one set of non-HHW friends (their loss) to contact.  I'm saving Tuesday and Wednesday for Hainsies & Kimlets (I've never figured out the difference and which one I am...)

Hi Ginny!  I'm glad that Dennis was downgraded to a low pressure system by the time it gets to you.  I do feel very sorry for the folks in the Panhandle.

I'm sure that more then one person is saying, "Why us again?!"    I guess you just have roll with the punches when you live near the coast.

All jokes aside, we have been very, very, very lucky so far.  I know that we are bound to get a direct hit sometime.  IF it ever comes to that, I am packing Bonnie up with Mom and the dogs and we will head for the hills just as fast as Bonnie can take us.

I might not stop until we hit Canada!

OzDerek is of course trying his best to stay positive about things. He will be flying home to Hobart to be with his family this time next week (His Birthday July 19) and will tell his family his news then. He has not been able to cope with telling them by phone. His medication has been increased substantially. He really will be rattling.

Jane, Killbot has not lost her main sleepin' space. But she does like listening to records in there with me.

Cute.  Does she have a favorite selection you can play when you allow her in with Walty?

I often wonder how many young folks know certain songs as advertising jingles without ever suspecting their origins as great music.

How many people think of "Rhapsody in Blue" as the American Airlines Theme?

A shame of my youth was knowing the song as "Put on a Windex Shine" before knowing of the song "Put on a Happy Face". That's the risk of selling songs for jingle use, I guess.

The clips I saw of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" on Ebert and Friend do not make it sound/look appealing. I am not a big Tim Burton fan, I must admit, I find his movies a little strident, and I am a huge fan of the Gene Wilder film.
