Never attempted to read that one.

Some of Trollope’s novels top 1,000 pages. Tolstoy and Balzac, too.

That sounds like a fun play DR GEORGE.

In our meeting yesterday - of the program committee - which has WAY too many people on it - several of the folks were recommending shows ONLY because they want to be in them.

I kept saying SUGAR is not a well known name and our audiences might not be familiar with it - not the real reason I kept saying no....but because of the two fools who have been in the show at some horrible theatre one county over and want to repeat their roles....which they were awful in to begin with.

Hopefully we will be able to secure the rights to the two shows we chose and we don't have to add SUGAR instead.....it's a dog of a show.....although I was instructed that if I promote it as "the stage version of Some Like It Hot" people will be fighting to get tickets.

Not starring those two losers.  And how do they know the director would even cast them?  They were only cast at the other theatre because there were no other choices.

Both of my musical choices were of course squashed.....two little unknown shows titled Nunsense II and My Fair Lady.

I shall now be on my way to rehearsal.....where I will still be "on book" and told to use my facial expressions more and handle my props more carefully - with a book in my hand.

And we are missing one person......

I guess the first composer I was aware of was Mr. Tchaikovsky because of Mr. Van Cliburn's trip to Russian where he beat the Russkies at their own game.  We read all about it in our Weekly Reader magazine in the second grade.

He was on the Ed Sullivan Show.....and at my request, I was purchased the extended 45 rpm records of his version of the First Piano Concerto in B Flat Minor.

Up until then my exposure to classical music had been via Bugs Bunny....and the Lone Ranger.

Monday afternoon greetings!

Another day, another ladies’ end-of-year event.  Tonight’s the AAUW scholarship (indoor) picnic.  This is the last one on my calendar, thank goodness.

Oh and my brother decided we would go get my new lawn mower tomorrow.

The more I read about self-propelled mowers, the less I want one.....

If any DR has an opinion to share it would be most appreciated.

Exactly.

Some of the viewer comments are hilarious.  My favorite: “Now this is a theatre kid when you leave them home alone.”

On This Day in 1886, Coca-Cola was invented. According to legend, Dr. John Styth Pemberton, an Atlanta pharmacist, produced the syrup in a brass pot in his backyard. It was first intended as a patent medicine. Today, Coca-Cola is one of the world's most popular soft drinks and one of the most recognized trademarks.

Last night I watched most of the new DVD of one of my favorite operas, The Turn of the Screw. It's well conducted by my friend John Wilson, but the production had two problems: the concept and the fact it wasn't scary.

The only possibility I could find in NY was Mac Menamin's Pub on a yelp link.
https://www.yelp.com/biz/mac-menamins-pub-new-york

Long story short, my brain is utterly confused. Schnippers was the place in the NY Times building. I knew a completely unrelated McMenamins from my time near Philly.

That happens ;D

The only reason to go.  The city is nice, but not the fact we cannot fly nonstop to Milwaukee.

I asked Keith.  I can't imagine I would ever have been able to push one that wasn't self-propelled.  He said all of our gas mowers were self-propelled.  What did your old one look like?
